Same as 07, but slower boot time May 29, 2008 Rich (Seattle, WA) This is my 4th Internet Security software from 05 to 08 and got to say it is the slowest of the bunch (use to be called PC Chilin also). Trend Micro has been known to use the least amount of resource and computer RAM. The first thing you noticed is the slower install time and to continue that the software is a slow loader during computer boot-up. This is noticeably slower then previous version on the same PC and OS. I use Window Vista Ultimate and Professional with 4GB and 2 GB of ram respectively. Scanning Takes about the same amount of time as previous version and length is dependent on your hard-drive size. The major issues are the spy and virus scanning. In previous version you get an option that said delete the next time the same cookies or virus is detected. In 07 and 06 the scan will just delete it, so you can and scan and have the PC automatically shut down when done. For some reason even with this feature is on , once it finished scanning it always show the cookies that it just deleted as a showoff, so you never really have a PC auto shut down features anymore (most for same cookies). This is an annoying feature that was not present in the previous. I don't know how good PC Chilin virus detection is compared to Norton and Mcfree, I hardy or never gotten a computer virus in years. There is a new option of background scanning as you work. Firewall: The same as all other version. Wi-Fi detection, office, home or public settings are the same. The user interface is the pretty much the same as 07 and 06ish. The weird internet thing on the side for 07 is gone. Overall this is basically the same as 07. With the notion that boot-up I s a tad slower and the annoying scan auto shutdown blocker. Micro Trend rebate is one of the reason I continue to use this antivirus. I received all my rebates from previous years. So they are basically free every year, if you keep all the rebate items (CD, user manual etc.) I have used all 3 licenses and wish there is the 4th user package. Over all it is still the cheapest and most reliable antivirus I have used for 4 years after using Norton and Mcfree. Basically
works good, except with XP SP3 June 7, 2008 William D. Jourdan it works great until you install windows XP SP3. if you are going to install SP3, go to trend micro's website to read how to get the newest version that is compatible with SP3. if you install SP3 while a non-current version of trend micro is installed. trend micro may stop working completely. it took me a while to get it all figured out. i didn't do things in the right order and had to download a program that completely uninstalled the old version. then i did a clean install with of the new version i got from trend micro's website.
great buy July 27, 2008 Jack W. Wolfe this is the best internet security for our home . it works great and a hole lot better then the last one we had. And the price was right and you can put in 3 computers so great deal!

Trend Micro Internet Security 2008 is excellent software. It installed without a problem and has done everything it was advertised it would do. I have used various security software including TM for years and must say TM has always been the best. Almost without exception it is rated good to outstanding with reviews I've read. I certainly wonder about the low rating and some of the poor reviews here on Amazon, it sure doesn't reflect my overall experience with TM products.
Be Cautious August 15, 2008 Averill Cate Jr I am currently nearing the end of my first year's subscription with PC-cillin Internet Security 2007. I have spent almost 4 hours trying to complete their automated renewal process and still no luck. The interface for renewing does not work properly and no one at their company nor at DigitalRiver.com, which handles their orders can figure out the problem. I'm moving onto a competitor's product.
