4 out of 5 stars Best Security Ive had   March 29, 2008

WORKS GREAT WITH FIREFOX BROWSER!! TRY FIREFOX www.mozillia.com instead of windows IE, which takes up too much memory!! Firefox is safer than Explorer. Firefox has many add ons and WORKS EXCELLENT WITH BITDEFENDER!!
Norton, Kaspersky, Panda wont work with FIREFOX. Bitdefender, avg, and some other work For FIREFOX. Be careful with pc tools brand security, dont get me wrong they are very good and get the job done. But they automatically charge your account at renewal time without any prior notification, they send you an email to the account you used when U installed PC Tools. They did this to me, I deleted all of my funds from this one account keeping it as aback up if needed then PC Tools charged my account and Overdrafted my account.
Bitdefender is the best internet security with antivirus Ive ever had. The only thing I dont like is if you dont have a storage device big enough you cant back up the system, And if you do use the back up today and check it tomarrow it tells you it has been past 30 days since last backup. But I jst leave mine disabled anyway. It does has atleast two scan modes normal and a deep scan mode, which is good for those hidden viruses.

BUY IT NOW!!! By it from amazon.com,Bitdefender cost about 50% more at bitdfender.com site.

1 out of 5 stars Save yourself some angst....   July 4, 2008

...and go with something else. I've used BitDefender for over a year now, and this morning woke up to discover that my internet provider had alerted me via email that I had a Trojan on my computer - this with BitDefender already in place and functioning on my machine. I figured if they could do that that I would download the McAfee anti-virus product they were offering for free. I installed it, and during the first scan it picked up not one, but two Trojans on my computer - two that BitDefender somehow managed to miss. Bottom line, save yourself some heartache here. BitDefender will noticably slow your computer down, scans take forever, it is forever updating, and based on what I saw today I have to wonder what it's updating for - the prom? Bottom line, it's just not as good a product as McAfee or Trend Micro, based upon my experience.

What a pleasant alternative to Norton and McAfee. This product runs seemlessly on XP Pro SP2 on my desktop and my Vista Home Premium laptop. The default settings are OK, but for max protection you need to tweak it a little. It is not nearly the resource hog that Norton, McAfee, and F-Secure are. It also does a better job of catching the nasties out there. I am sold on this product and would recommend it to anyone for home or business computing protection.

1 out of 5 stars Just didn't work for me...   December 3, 2007

Unfortunately, I had nothing but problems with this software. The first time I installed it, the registration pop-up window kept popping up every time I booted up my computer. Customer service gave me instructions to fix the problem by having me go into my registry and make some edits. Then, just when I got this problem fixed, I serious system instability problems began to creep up. In one instance my internet explorer 7 shut down and was never fully operational again. Then I kept getting a warning that said "Remote Procedure Call Failed" and prevented me from right-clicking anything. In the end, I had to reinstall my operating system in order to fix all the problems that came up.

When it was working, BitDefender seemed like a really nice protection package - extremely bulletproof, intuitive, easy to use. In addition, their customer service was quick and helpful -- they understood my issues and promply refunded my money with an apology. The reality, though, is that there are a wide variety of systems and configurations out there, and it's unlikely that just one brand of software will be best for all systems. Sadly, it just didn't work with my machine (Sony Vaio FZ series).

4 out of 5 stars BitDefender has many features   December 18, 2007

BitDefender has many features that should protect most users from Internet problems keeping their computer operational in this crazy world of attackers. It takes some time to configure the program to the user's requirements; however seems to go smoothly once programmed. Users have the option to disable features they do not require. It loads 2 to 5 times faster than the competitive memory hog products we have used prior to purchasing BitDefender. Helping a friend recover a badly virus infected hard drive; it caught 31 of 32 viruses, but missed a major one causing video driver problems before being corrected. Should a registry problem occur causing to BitDefender to cease operation, a total reinstall is required, resetting all parameters again. The scan disk does not provide a progress report and the back up feature is a mediocre option. Generally, for the casual user, BitDefender out performs most of its competition, but could use improvements.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
