4 out of 5 stars better than expected   August 17, 2005

I had read reviews of this product on tech sites and found that they were right "on". I can view my portfolio online with MSN Money, very easy to set up! Downloading transactions from my bank was simple to set up, too. (You have to call your bank and also have online banking.) I have been using a version of Quickens for many years and this is my first try at Microsoft's Money. It converted and downloaded my quickens files without a hitch. Very impressed by that feature. The only thing that I have to monitor is the banking downloads because it sometimes matches them to the wrong transactions I've entered, but I'm able to check them against the cleared transactions from my bank to make corrections. I think that I'm still learning about that feature, and will get it right eventually. Budgets are a little bit of work to set up, but not hard. Lots of good, useful features included, so it's worth the money.
In summary, I like it better than my old quickens mainly because of the investment tools. It does work well, no weird freezes. Overall, I'm glad I bought it.

thats what i've been doing - money 2006 premium's product registration wont work. the rebate link you must go to to get the rebate doesnt have money 2006 listed for any version. microsoft webhelp chat hangs when loading and phoning is a nightmare. as far as the actual software - it converted my 2003 file just fine and the interface is very pretty other than that i see no big improvements to what i had

2 out of 5 stars Less stable than Money 2004   December 15, 2005

Money 2004 never crashed on me, but I find 2006 does so quite often.

I'm a little frustrated with not being able to view changes to the budget in the current month.

From the help manual:
"If your budget doesn't look balanced the first month, wait until next month to see if the problem goes away on its own."

Money 2006 hasn't got any simplier. In their attempt to simplify you now have 'basic' and 'advanced' modes to everything. This makes it more confusing and harder to find features.

1 out of 5 stars where can you get your $249 free stuffs as Microsoft advertised?   December 28, 2005

I bought Money Premium version because Microsoft advertised $249 free stuffs. Please see the following link :

http://www.microsoft.com/money/specialoffers.mspx

According to the Microsoft web site, I have to use the specfied URL from Money program to get the free stuffs. I could not find these URLs from Money program except the Experian(free credit report). I used the online chat support. Microsoft staff wrote: "These special offer are in partnership with Microsoft Money. You have to contact them yourself to get sign-information to take advantage of these special offers ", "We did not mislead you in anyway these special offers are available to you free of charge from us. What you need to do is to contact moonjar or gainskeeper and tell them you have money 2006 premium and they will allow you to use their service"

Isn't that contradict to what Microsoft web site said(I posted the link)? I could not find any special free stuffs for Microsoft Money user from these web sites via normal URLs.

What a joke. If you are attracted by $249 free stuffs, think twice.

1 out of 5 stars Frustrating   January 2, 2006

I'm a small business owner and have been using another version of Money for 2 years. It is very hard to get anything to balance with this and if you have several sources of income and try to transfer amounts from one account to another, it does count it as income TWICE as others have said. I think writing your figures down on a piece of paper might be faster than plugging it all into this software and trying to make it balance.

My accountant could not figure it out and said to use Quick Books or Quicken.
