BitDefender Total Security 2008 - 2 Years/3 Pc's I purchased BitDefender Total Security for my computer and my son's laptop due to PC Magazine. Unfortunately, the program never made it to my son's laptop. I have Windows XP and had to uninstall Windows Defender to get rid of some problems. That created even more BitDefender problems. The only solution according to the 1-800 number for BitDefender was to uninstall and reinstall BitDefender Total Security. That became a daily routine. If I was not on the phone with BitDefender, I was busy sending emails after I had downloaded their tools and responded with results. After about 15 days, I had enough! Since then, I returned the product. I have downloaded ESET Smart Security for 30 days (as a trial) and no more problems! I am also trying Glary Utilities (free forever) and no problems! I wish I could get ESET Smart Security thru AMAZON.

This item is easy to use does not slow your system down like Norton. I would recommend it anyone

I used Norton for many years and then decided to switch to another program that used less overhead. Bitdefender seems to work well overall but it's user interface leaves a lot to be desired. Checking the programs settings and status are not designed well but once you find them they are functional. Maybe after some time I will get use to the interface but for now it would be nice to have a one-click menu to check the status on all the security programs running. An example would be adding more functionality to the taskbar icon like being able to stop all internet traffic. Time will tell if this program proves to be a good investment as a Total Security Suite.

I read a lot of good things about this software, so I decided to try it for myself. I must say that when this product works, it works very well. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of problems that frequently prevent it from working properly. The thing that worries me the most is the frequent, seemingly random disabling of security features (real-time protection, firewall, etc.). Every time I want to go on the internet I check to make sure these things are working, and a lot of the time they aren't. When I click the fix buttons, nothing happens. The only thing that gets it working again is a system reboot, which can be quite annoying. I've had other problems like error messages popping up when I open the console, being unable to update at times, and other minor irritations. This all leads me to my next problem with this product/company. I've found that Bitdefender support is basically non-existent. I've been sending e-mails to tech support for 3 months with absolutely no response. After 3 months of sending countless e-mails I finally got a response, but only after telling them that I will never purchase another BitDefender product again and that I was about to start publicly boycotting their company because of their lack of support for a product that does not work properly. I have never experienced such poor support for any software I have ever used. All in all I'd have to say that when this product is working, it works very well. But unfortunately, those times are a lot less frequent than they should be, and my computer spends a lot of time being completely unprotected. I would really not recommend this product to anyone.
