Works for me July 2, 2008 C. R. Belviz For about 7 months, I've been running this software on my Vista home premium laptop and my XP Media Center desktop and haven't had any problems at all. Both of my systems operate smoothly, even during full system scans. I've used a few different internet security suites and so far this is the best. I only gave it 4 stars because the extra features (Duplicate finder, disk defragmenter) are mediocre. Pros: Easy to use/configure, Updates every hour, not a resource hog. Cons: Seems like some extra features were just added as fillers.
so far no issues with XP and Vista July 19, 2008 W. Ching (North Potomac, MD) I have this installed for 3 months or so in my PC with XP and laptop with Vista, so far no issues with slowing down, always on, does not use a lot of memory when running in the background. I've used Norton and it freezes my XP a lot so i got rid of it....
Was hopeful for a good outcome August 2, 2008 John E. Scott (Mount Morris,IL) I got excited when I found a AV suite that had a nice price and many had rated Bitdefender products high. However, I personally installed it on three Vista computers and had major OS errors after installing. On one laptop which my wife uses the email program WinMail from Microsoft the program crashed all the time and Bitdefender acknolledge the error with it's own screen requesting to send a error report (thank's for nothing). Then it makes another attempt to launch the program! Of course another crash! I am a very savy computer user's and have not had this much trouble with software for some time. Beware! is all I can say.
So So AntiVirus August 10, 2008 tekvoodoo Better than norton, panda or McAfee Av. After installing bitdefender, I found out product comes with enormous options of customizing the needs and doesn't take much memory resource like Trend Micro AV. However, after installing bitdefender, I can't remote desktop from my PC nor go to Microsoft Windows network. but I can browse or ping. I immediately knew this product messed up my registry settings. I ran winsockfix and problem got resolved. I don't expect bitdefender touch my existing software and mess up without my permission. I would not consider this as a quality antivirus product and that's why bitdefender will get 2 stars.
Needs some work, but OK August 12, 2008 Ann Warner (Boonville, MO USA) We installed this on an XP and a Vista system. On the Vista system, the registry program works not at all. I have a registry repair pro freebie that found 282 errors, while bit defender said there were 0. I could tell by the way it was running that there were registry problems, and indeed it was back in top form after running the freebie. There are also problems on vista with it not performing some of the tasks it is supposed to, and I haven't gotten solutions to that downloaded yet. On the good side, it seems to be much less intrusive and obnoxious than Norton 360 I had before. I didn't like them AT ALL and was glad to get it off my computer. With some tuning up, this will be a nice program. We liked the two year/three computer package very much. Norton was nightmare to renew, and hopefully the less often I have to renew the better it will be.
