1 out of 5 stars Money Plus is a joke   July 15, 2008
Frustrated (malvern, pa usa)
I have evaluated Quickbooks Pro and Pro Contractor edition. I installed the trial version of Money Plus after reading that it can run concurrently with prior versions (I have Money 2002). After evaluating it, it doesn't even come close to Quickbooks for funtionality. However it would probably be ok for someone who sells Lemonade.

After installing it, I opened my prior version of Money (which has my entire life's checking history) to find out that it somehow got password protected. I couldn't figure out what the password was so I restored the prior backup. That worked fine except I had to reenter a ton of checks. Being a little po'ed about the trial version, I deinstalled it. That worked perfectly... and then some. It deinstalled my copy of Money 2002 as well! I had to restore my system to get that back and needless to say I also had to install and deinstall lots of other stuff. What a collosal waste of time.

5 out of 5 stars No issues here   July 23, 2008
Jane Lee (Saratoga Springs, UT USA)
I have been extremely pleased with Money Plus Deluxe. Some other reviewers have had lots of problems loading the full version of Money after they used the trial version. I have not found any issues and yes, I did have the trial version first. I am extremely pleased since my last version of Money was from 2000. This program does exactly what I need it to do. I'm most excited about the automated account updates from my bank. I've found that all my transactions have been matched perfectly except on 2 instances, but it was easy for me to just say,"Don't match these." And they weren't.

Great product!

1 out of 5 stars You'll Wish You Never Bought This!!   July 25, 2008
Craigarious (Boca Raton, FL USA)
I've had it for about 6 months now. From the very first day when I installed it on Vista, I spent HOURS trying to get it to work, and was successful, depending on how you define successful, I guess. Turned out at the time that Vista and Money didn't play nice together...hopefully they fixed that bug by now. Since then, every couple of months the program breaks, including today. It's been a gamut of issues including (not all at the same time):

* Says I can't log in because it doesn't have an internet connection when I can browse well enough to write this review.
* Deleted login info to my bank several times (just one of them).
* Fails to display downloaded info on occasion unless I perform a "Repair Money File" on it. Happens at least every other week. I got this "fix" from tech support but I always have to do it again.
* It has a "service" which runs in the background and is designed to keep the data current by downloading it daily from each account, but this service breaks frequently and I have to reinstall the software to get it working again. This is a huge inconvenience because all online accounts need to be reset up each time that happens and that takes time!
* Tech support usually has a few canned things to try depending on the issue before instructing me to backup the file, uninstall and reinstall, which works half the time.

Tech support is free by email but it takes a day for a response then when I respond another day for their response. They supposedly have chat, but every time I've wanted to use it (always during business hours) it was not available. It usually takes about 6 volleys with TS to solve it, and it is only solved about half the time. My features are crippled because I'm afraid to reinstall it again. Funny that the only thing that stops me from switching to Quicken is that they're ratings are just as bad!

4 out of 5 stars great help in tracking money   August 2, 2008

I upgraded from the 2003 version of Money, and this one is an improvement from that version. I like the product for the most part. I found some of the way it is organized a little hard to get used to from my old version. It converted my old file without a problem. I like the graphs it has and I think it is a good product. I think the interface itself could be nicer looking than it is, but that is OK.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing but trouble   August 6, 2008
Robert Randall (Maryland)
I "upgraded" to Money Plus Deluxe from 2004 and I have had nothing but trouble. Data files get corrupt, so I had to recreate everything, application crashed occasionally, updates from banks are spotty at best. What a horrible application. I have never tried Quicken, but it looks like I am headed that way.
