4 out of 5 stars far superior to Quicken   January 16, 2008

After two months of abandoning Quicken for MS Money, I have found MS Money far superior. I use the program for online banking and bill paying only. You are able to remove payees from the bank data as well as the local program which Quicken will not do properly. Thus, if an online payee changes it account number you have only a single entry in MS while you keep the old as well as the new in Quicken - can get most confusing. You cannot print the downloaded bank data in Quicken without multiple steps while it is a simple procedure (change view) in MS Money. When you pay online bills in Quicken, you get only limited data about the payment while you get the complete discription of who you are paying in MS Money. You have a choice of paying a single bill immediately in MS Money without downloading all bank data. In addition MS Money gives you the bank confirmation number that the billing data was actually received - not available in Quicken. I could go on. For online banking MS Money is far superior.

1 out of 5 stars Upgrading to this was a big mistake   April 17, 2008

I've been using Microsoft Money for about 10 years, and have been happy with it for the most part. I was using the 2004 version, but I thought budgeting features could be better, so I thought I would try Money Plus. As the title of this review states, Big Mistake! A much documented (note to self - read complaints in user forums before buying any software!) but unresolved issue is that the program takes about 10 minutes just to start if you happen to have the Spending Tracker on the Money home page (in Vista at least). The Spending Tracker module in the Budget section behaves the same way. It is one of the features I thought would make budgeting better than 2004, so I was fuming when I found out I can't even use it. Then I went to the Bills list and realized that I can't select more than one bill at a time to see what my bank balance would be after paying the selected bills. This might not be an issue if you haven't been using Money for 10 years, but I have become very dependent on this feature! So, I'm going back to 2004, and might consider Quicken. Buyer beware!

If you want to spend $50.00 and @#$^ around with MS Support then go and spend that cash. I installed it, I entered the product key, and then MS wants you to verify the software. Bill Gates had his own back doors to know your biz, then the gov wanted their back doors. They won. The verification process, I think, is just a way for MS and the gov to download your pc files while you think you are trying to "get verified".
I bought the software and entered the key. What more? Why did I need some pinhead to walk me through a preK "shut down your firewall so we can know you all night long?" Because sex sells and you just got @#$!ed. I trash canned my disk. Save yourself the pain and get quicken or buy and ledger book at Wal-Mart.

4 out of 5 stars Easy switch from Money 2004   December 22, 2007

I've been using Money Plus Deluxe for the past month without any difficulties. Despite many of the disconcerting reviews posted here, I decided to bite the bullet and move from Money 2004 as I no longer could enjoy automatic downloads. My old records transferred over smoothly. It was very straightforward and quick. I must admit that I don't really notice that all that much has changed from 2004. I don't find the little that is new to be particularly helpful. All that matters is that the program works. I would love to see more banks and financial firms have automatic downloads and for Money to do a better job in analyzing a portfolio (it doesn't even allow you to do something as simple as categorize funds as national vs. international). However, the program, fortunately, works just fine for me.

2 out of 5 stars 2007 redo with one major problem   March 17, 2008

Have been MS Money user for over 10 years, if memory serves. Which I think is, in part, how I got into this problem. Bought Money Plus bundled with TaxCut 2007 - net cost approximately $5-$10 vs. stand-alone TaxCut package (downloaded not store purchase). Install went fine, was upgrading Money 2007, which was the most recent in a series of upgrades since my original version. Long story short - no material changes over 2007 - in fact, in my opinion, there haven't been an significant upgrades for about 5 years, maybe more. Save, perhaps the invention of online banking expiration, thus forcing the user to upgrade. But I digress...
The major problem was that Money Plus seemed to max out my processor (CPU = 100%), basically crashing my computer whenever I ran the program. Did some on-line research, found others had same problem and fixed it using File - Repair Money File - Remove all bills data. Apparently, the new version does not play nicely with old bills data. Seems to work okay now, so in essence I've paid $5-$10 to continue my on-line banking for additional year.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
