Easy to use November 25, 2007 D. Lovitz (Lehigh Valley, PA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have used Norton and Zonealarm. Both of them made it hard to look at things on the internet. Kaspersky 7.0 is so easy to use, set up and it doesn't block everything I look at when I am on the internet. It has not slowed my computer at all. I did a lot of research about Anti-virus software before purchasing Kaspersky. I made the right choice and the cost was a great bonus for me. I shop on Amazon.com as often as I can. They are great!
Nobody Does It Better December 10, 2007 Strut (Hoffman Estates, IL) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
When I was young, we didn't have newfangled computers in our schools. And looking back, we liked it! Carrying those notebook computers would have weighed us down walking 20 miles to school barefoot in the snow... But then we grew up, had careers, and those computer gizmos showed up. I learned about them on the seat of my pants. Early on, I found Norton products served me well. I find them high maintenance, but that's OK for me. I don't mind getting warned or asked frequently about a potential threat or problem. I DO mind when my system gets slowed down. I started with Norton's Internet Security. It worked OK, but everything we hear about Norton as system hog? I find it's understated. I moved on to Zone Alarm, and found my performance improved. When it was time to renew, I was going to try Norton 360, but then someone recommended Kaspersky highly. I bought Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0. It installed uneventfully to Windows XP, and my system speed has greatly improved. The anti virus auto updates every 2 or 3 hours The product promises hourly updates, but my system is simple. Kaspersky usually has something new hourly if I manually update. Norton and Zone Alarm auto updated daily. A big positive was being able to update to Version 7.0 from 6.0 on my current license. The 6.0 interface was good; on 7.0 it looks even better. The product is easy to navigate and use, the user guide on the CD answered my questions, and the 6.0 software I bought at Comp USA had a written user guide. Hope it's still available in 7.0. The only con I find is not a big one. Internet Explorer and Firefox run slower behind the Kaspersky firewall than behind the Windows firewall. Kaspersky's room for improvement will be designing the firewall to perform with less slowdown. I still use Symantec products; Norton System Works (minus anti virus), Norton Ghost, even Partition Magic. But for internet security, the best by far is Kaspersky 7.0.
Broke WireLess on Laptop Twice December 31, 2007 Andrew 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
The first install caused the wireless on my computer to stop functioning. i proceeded to uninstall and reinstall and things appeared fine. A week later, the wireless stopped working with the same symptoms as the first time. I had never had that problem before. Posted the problem on their forum and received no response. I am back to Norton AntiVirus and AVG with whom I have had no problems.
Maybe for a pro, but.... February 23, 2008 Seattleite (Seattle, WA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm not very computer literate, but have been using computers for about 10 years. I bought this on the basis of some positive reviews, but experienced problems from the very start (various error messages and very slow speed to freezing up); at one point, I could not access my Control Panel. I did email their tech support, and did receive a response in 2 days, but I sent two more emails over 10 days ago and still have not received a response. Program seems to protect my system, but I have had trouble configuring it (manual not very detailed); it would probably work better for an IT person.
Great anti-virus software... March 22, 2008 Betty A. Ludwig (Michigan) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I put this on my laptop and my desktop computers. One has the XP operating system and the other has Vista. I had no problem installing it on both operating systems. The only thing I had to do with Vista was make sure that internet explorer was allowed on the firewall list to keep it from crashing. The downloads are pretty fast and it doesn't stall the whole computer while it's running. The software has caught some serious problems before it was able to attack my computer. I've used McAfee in the past and Defender Pro. They were terrible compared to this anti-virus software. I would buy this again in a heart beat.
