Stainless Steel Water Bottle - Bronze September 28, 2007 H. Urish (Seattle, WA USA) 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
Within the first week of use the "Bronze" coding on the outside of the bottle started to scratch off. But, more troubling is the lit....it doesn't lock into place to seal properly. The threads catch, but right when you crank it down one last turn to ensure it's closed, it goes completely off track and loosens up. Final words...weak lid with a crappy paint job. DON'T LET THE LABEL FOOL YOU, AS IT DID ME.....ENVIRO PRODUCTS ARE MADE IN CHINA. WHO'S ENVIRONMENT ARE THEY GOOD FOR?? I'm calling the company.
Nice idea, poor implementation January 14, 2008 C. W. Owen (Kirkland, Wa) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I was very excited the first few weeks I had these bottles. They are relatively small, don't really leak and the lid is attached. In short, they are pretty much perfect for a kids lunch box, diaper bag, back pack, day bag.. whatever. The shortcommings are in the plastic neck. Over time they will develop stress cracks. For me, this was after about a month. When this occurs, you must be extremely careful when tightening the lid or it will simply snap off. The first one to break was actually done by my 7 yr old, and my natural response was "how did you do that?", and of course assuming mis-use. Eventually I broke one with minimal force without even realizing it had cracks. After breaking the second, I discovered the cracks and found them present in all of the bottles. Color doesn't make a difference. I have 3 boys, and wishing to have clean ones for lunches, I bought 14 hoping it was enough to make it through between washing cycles. It's been 2.5 months and only 2 remain. I'm writing the review now as I'm back looking for something else and the search brought up these again. I felt compelled to comment about my experiences and frustrations with these bottles.
lovely thing February 7, 2007 Manitauk 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
I do love this little metal bottle. It is light-weight, nasty-chemical flavor free, and lovely. It is quite small (what you'd expect for 20 oz), so I'd probably get a larger size next time. Also, keep in mind that steel is an excellent heat conductor; if you put in hot things the bottle gets just as hot to the touch and everything in it soon cools. Likewise, the thing is chilly on the hands if filled with icy water.
exterior quality poor July 24, 2007 A. Debary 23 out of 28 found this review helpful
New Wave bottle does a good job inside; but in the dishwasher, even on the highest shelf, the paint on the bottle chips off after a second washing. Wouldn't recommend this product, for that reason.
brass nozzle leaves bad taste April 22, 2008 B. Pokorny (NH) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
We bought four of these bottles, in red, green and blue, a year ago. Their big problem is that they have a threaded brass insert in the nozzle that gives a bad taste when you drink. Tastes like sucking on a penny. We also bought Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottle at the same time. It is much better. No brass, much better taste.
