Furthermore.... I bought two of this type thing trying to get away from plastic..... they took forever to get to me and I have tried everything I can to get the nasty taste out of them... Nothing works, so I have written a few times to Amazon,,,totally ignored .... I want to return them.. I have only had them a couple of weeks,,, ignored... maybe Bazo's sold Amazon, maybe we need to stop buying from Amazon with this kind of lack of service?? But this product is nasty awful.... don't buy it!!!!!
Great water bottle September 9, 2007 Ann S. Moody (Gallipolis Ohio) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a really good water bottle if you don't want to use plastic bottles. It holds a lot. A little hard to carry around, but I don't have that much problem with it. It does sweat quite a bit when filled with cold liquids, so you need to be careful with it around papers in the office/classroom. Being a teacher, I solved this problem by enclosing it in a footie sock. We do this at school with the kids' water bottles.
excellent water bottle October 1, 2007 jennifer (Michigan) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was looking for a nice, narrow mouth non-plastic water bottle and after trying out several, finally found this one and it is by far the best of the bunch. The bottle itself is sturdy and although I have dropped it, it has not dented. The narrow mouth makes all the difference for me and the water tastes great. I feel good about drinking more water, not having the leaching problems of plastic bottles, and not contributing to the production and disposal of plastic bottles. On a side note, the colors and patterns that SIGG offers are really fun, too!
Best water bottle on earth... so far... March 28, 2008 D. Barnard (Texas) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I did quite a bit of research before buying this water bottle. I've been drinking from plastic bottles for years now, and was quite disturbed to learn that chemicals leach into the water. Twenty years from now, I think history is going to look back regretfully on the last fifty years as "The Chemical Age." We are just starting to understand the grievous impact all these chemicals have had on our bodies and on our planet. From what I've read, glass is actually the safest thing to drink from, but I've had a really hard time finding a suitable glass bottle that I can carry around when I'm out and about. Sigg seems to be a close second. The baked on enamel coating is very durable and has been proven to not leech any chemicals (here's an interesting discussion about the safety of Sigg bottles: http://www.dld123.com/q&a/index.php?cid=1796). The first few times I drank from the Sigg, there was a slightly metallic taste, but that went away very quickly. Until I find some sort of glass bottle that is practical enough to carry around, this Sigg is going to be my water bottle of choice...
Optimum Large Water Bottle February 10, 2007 O. Brown (Twopeas, WA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
***** This is an upscale designer water bottle, top of the line, and so much fun. The designs of Sigg's water bottles are gorgeous, from the plain, solid color bottles (like this one), to others with intricate designs. I switched from regular plastic water bottles because of health concerns, even though I thought a permanent bottle like this would take more work to maintain. These do necessitate regular cleaning (I clean mine every day), but having something so beautiful to drink from makes the cleaning less of a chore. Sort of like my rings, glasses, and watch, I now consider my Sigg personal water bottle a vital accessory, reminding me to drink more water, making a statement about my values, and expressing myself with a special design. Sigg of Switzerland water bottles are very high quality, made of light aluminum on the outside, slightly insulated, and covered with a special powder coat on the inside that prevents any leaching whatsoever, unlike plastic and polycarbonate water bottles. They are light, durable, and perfect for any activity. Well water tastes spectacular in these bottles, just like from the tap. They do dent if dropped on a hard surface at a particular angle, but Sigg fans (including me) view this as a type of "seasoning", so that your bottle acquires character. The dents are on the outside layer of the bottle, not the inside layer and so don't interfere with any functionality. Sigg bottles come with several different types of tops. This bottle has a screw top, which I prefer. I don't mind unscrewing the top when I want a drink. It is totally leak proof, which is important to me. The top is pretty and can be hooked onto a carabineer. If you ever lose the top, you can buy them separately. Sigg makes their personal water bottle in many sizes. I have quite a few, and like this 1L size for my car and other uses that require a lot of water (like a long hike). This bottle may seem expensive, but it is so durable that you can plan on it lasting many years. I consider Sigg bottles both an accessory and an investment in my health, so they are well worth it value-wise for me. Note that this water bottle should not be used to contain boiling water, as this will damage the outer coating. It also cannot be left in the freezer, as it may crack. It can be used for carbonated beverages, if you leave about a half inch of room at the top. Highly recommended. *****
