As a frequent dog-walker I've carried this product for 5+ years and have used it once. My experience was similar to that of others and the offending canine stopped in his tracks, ran for the nearest puddle and rolled its face in the muddy water. Since that episode the dog has steered clear of us. I recently purchased Halt to replace my current supply due to questions of shelf life.

I highly recommend this product for those who wish to have some peace of mind while walking their dogs. Since buying it several years ago, I have used it three times on unleashed dogs that threatened me and/or my greyhounds while we were walking. Just two days ago, two unleashed, unsupervised dogs ran aggressively towards me and the two greys I was walking. I sprayed the Halt! at the first one, and while the stream did not seem to make direct facial contact, the dog was obviously taken aback, as it immediately stopped running at us and turned around. I then sprayed at the second dog, and that time, the stream definitely made facial contact. The dog did not yelp or seem to be in pain, it just turned around and left quickly. To me, having the Halt! spray made all the difference between just being shaken up and having someone get bitten, because, prior to being sprayed, those dogs clearly had every intention of engaging in aggressive behavior towards us. As a dog lover, I really like the fact that the spray does not seem to harm the dog or cause a great deal of discomfort, but just makes it stop and reexamine whether it wants to continue what it is doing.

I bought this stuff because I walk outside everyday for exercise in my quest to stay young and healthy. Unfortunately, my neighborhood is just filled with dogs that either don't mind their owners OR are allowed to run free. After being chased one too many times, I decided to take some action and buy some dog repellant- hence this product, Halt.
Well, I have to say that after field-testing this product at least 10 times or so, it works. Now I have to say that it does affect some dogs differently. I expected the stuff to stop 'em dead in their tracks, and for some dogs it does- cold. They start sneezing and twirl their heads around and forget all about chasing you. However, some don't seem to feel the effects as much, but rather are totally scared by the spraying action and so they too stop and back off. In the final analysis, the stuff works one way or another. Readers trying to stay in shape by walking regularly might also find a pedometer useful such as the Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometer.

I walk my dog every day and have carried Halt for about one year. Until today I never had to use it. Today a rotweiller and two other larger dogs came after my dog and me. They were not snarling but they were not being friendly either. When they did not respond to me shouting "no" I pulled out my Halt and sprayed all three in the face. All three of them immediatly turned around and ran back the way they had come. I was amazed at how well and how quick Halt worked. I will never walk my dog without Halt in my back pocket.

Great! Haven't had to use it yet, but sprayed some in the sink (just to make sure the spray worked) it did, the fumes made me leave the area of house. It was very strong, so yes, appears to show promise. I must say, I walk my dog with a new confidence.
