Just what we needed April 12, 2007 D. Ferraro Jr. (Peace Dale RI) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We spent a week on Isla Mujeres in Mexico during late March, we purchased this dive set so we wouldn;t have to rent and the gear we purchased was far superior than what was offered. The value was expectional, and i found the whole process easy, i encourage other consumers to purchase this set.
Totaly Impressed with ours. April 19, 2007 Melissa Mcvey (Venezuela) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The wife and me each got a set and tried it out today. We were surprised everything was great quality and looked nice. The fins are great cut right thru the water. The snorkle is also great, kept water totaly out in waves and when diving. The mask was good/ok. You can't go wrong with this package. Wish I would have got the other US Divers kit with the little better mask and same fins for a few bucks more. We are happy. Dan & Melissa
Great price for a solid package May 14, 2007 Eric Vogt (Madison, WI) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this set for a trip to Samoa - the guidebook I read mentioned that rental of snorkeling gear in-country was a pretty hit-or-miss proposition, and really, who wants to spend a couple hours chomping a mouthpiece that an unknown number of other people have used? So, I checked a local big-box sporting goods retailer, and couldn't find a snorkeling set for under $100 (I live in the Midwest though, so may have fewer options than someone on a southern coast). Then I checked amazon.com, and found the same set for thirty bucks... As for actual use of the set, it was great. The mask was easy to put on and adjust, and formed a nice, tight seal even over my bit of facial hair stubble. I didn't get any water in my mouth through the snorkel. The dry tip and the purge valve combination kept the waves out even through moderate swells, and didn't restrict air flow. The fins slipped on and off real easy, and stayed securely in place during use - I was expecting to have to give up one or the other. The only thing I would have liked would have been an anti-fog coating on the mask. After about 20 minutes or so, I would be fogged up enough that I'd need to find a shallow where I could stand up and take the mask off and rinse it. However, I can now go out and buy a little bottle of spray-on anti-fogging, and still be getting solid gear at a great price.
Fine for the recreational snorkeler June 5, 2007 E. Rigby (Berkeley,CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I took my snorkle and fins to Catalina. The snorkle was great, minimal water got in the snorkle and the mask. I wear a size 8 shoe and bought a size 8-9.5 fin but should have bought a smaller size. They did flop around more than I like. I would highly reccomend getting this set but if you're at the lower end of the shoe size; buy the next size down.
Too small, maybe ok for a child July 18, 2007 Scott Kraft (Long Island, NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have used other snorkels before. This snorkel/mask combo is too small for me. There is something wrong about the way the mask attaches to the snorkel. It is not comfortable. It is not flexable enough, so if your not exactly the right shape, you won't be happy. Get a snorkel with a flexible section near the mouthpiece. Also, in terms of foot size, if you are in-between two sizes, get the larger one. I would recommend you invest in something more comfortable though.
