1377 C An out of the box POS November 16, 2007 Maj. Dick Hertz (ret.) 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
I am convinced that the C stands for crap. Unbalanced (muzzel heavy), poor grip configuration (flops around like a fart in a wind storm), plastic sights (why not stick a Cherrio & a wad of gum on the barrel) - and a crown on the muzzel that looked like it was done by a one-eyed drunken monkey hanging from a 10 ballon. If there ever was a POS to upgrade - the 1377 C is it in spades. By the time one replaces the barrel, the breech, bolt, trigger, grips & sights - all your initial $60.00 bought you was a platform. A frame - you'll soon want to dump the springs & sear plate - upgrade those. And don't forget the valve assembly. There's plenty of room for improvement there. Sigts - Millet, Weaver, Red Dot or a full blown Scope - anything is better than plastic. But plastic is better than a Cherrio & a wad of gum. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that Bill Gates designed this thing. In the end, after shelling out $60.00 + another $400.00 in upgrades you will have a POS with $400.00 worth of upgrades. I have mixed feelings about this American Classic (I wonder where it was made). After I took an RCBS case reamer to the crown to get a concentric couner-sink the 'Classic' started to group better. A PREDATOR .177 Hunting Pellet with 5 pumps behind it @25 feet got buried 1/3 of the way in a 1.25 inch paper back novel. That's respectable penetration... Carving out an oversized grip out of scrap poplar for a left side grip added needed stability. I also put a good sized chunk of scrap brass behind the grip to add weight and help balance it better. Once a long steel breech (RJ MACHINE) & Red Dot Sight (Optics Planet) are installed the balance should be about were it should be (for me at least). On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I give the out of the box Crosman 1377 C a -3.
Accuracy, Powerful, Accuracy, Powerful February 10, 2008 T. Anderson (PA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This thing is very powerful and very accurate. From 15 feet I hit a 1/2 inch center 5 times in a row at 4 pumps. I started with 1 pump, then 2, 3, and finally 4 hit dead center. The first 3 were low, and 5 pumps took it high. Long range was just as good. Took 2 shots to get sited in, and then hit 3 bottles at 30 yards in a row. Awesome gun....
Fool thee twice, shame on me...revised June 24, 2008 Rod Dixon 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well, I read all the positive reviews for this gun and thought that something was wrong with me. You see, as a boy, I had owned one of these and it was a piece of junk as far as I was concerned. But that was then. As I recall, the first shot was okay, but by the third shot (not the 250th as the manual claims) the gun was at half power, if that (there is no advice in the "manual" for this, only legal disclaimers). UPDATED: I'm changing this to four stars because I discovered that a drop of oil, on the bolt/breach seal, after ever four shots or so, will keep the gun at full power. It would have been nice to have that stated somewhere in the users manual. Newbies, like me, be warned: a tight seal is important and without lubricant you won't get one. rod
Great Air Pistol April 19, 2007 P. Aquino 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great pistol with power and a good trigger pull for accurate shots. I've seen a steel breech kit that can fit a Williams adjustable rear sight or a scope at the Crosman website. It looks like a good upgrade if you are willing to spend the extra money.
