new adventure July 4, 2008 Thomas Etzel (memphis) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I always looked kinda funny at people with electric lawn mowers but,the joke was on me! This mower does a fantastic job on my 1/4 acre lot! I was concerned about the grass catcher after reading the prior reviews but as it turned out,it holds just about as much as my Toro but is harder to empty due to small intake size of bag.No big deal. Took all of 5 min to set up..if that long.Single lever height adjustment is the"best thing since sliced bread". The ball bearing wheels make this mower so easy to push its like walking back and forth around my yard(good exercise)even with a full bag. I used the catcher on front yard but mulched the back.Perfect cut! I would recommend buying a good quality extension cord since you need to provide adequate power to the motor when you are running a 100 ft cord. as to the gripe about having a cord to mess with,no problem at all,I mean it!Its much easier to deal with than my electric trimmer(go figure??)and as long as you start closest to plug and work your way out,you hardly notice it. I am not some "tree huger' just an old guy who hates blowing money on 'quality' lawn mowers that after three years are junk! I hope this one lasts longer and I will no it hasn't without pulling my a_ _ off trying to get it running!
NO MORE HONDAS!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!! July 13, 2008 Teresa L. Chaffee (eastern oregon) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had a Honda powered Craftsman gas mower that ran real good for all of 40 hours until the intake valve froze, (I'm a mechanic and maintained it better than recommended), after buying one of these earthwise electeric mowers I'll never even think about another gas mower! Not because of any "eco" reasons, I'm just sick and tired of gas powered "throw-aways", if ya can't believe in a Honda, what can ya believe in? This mower slides through 8 inch tall grass like a hot knife through butter! I don't use the grass catcher so can't comment on that, and have only had it for 2 weeks now so can't comment on the longevity, but so far I can highly recommend one of these to anyone who's sick and tired of pullin rope and changin plugs! The cord is no hassle in copmparison either. I have 3 houses all with small yards and this machine is easy to haul and so far I'm VERY happy with it! I highly recommend this unit!

I was skeptical about this as I had never even laid eyes on an electric mower before. Long story short the cord was not a problem and I got used to it very quick. It was powerful and cut through dense St. Augustine grass. I have not tried the bagger so I don't have any opinion on that. I am 6ft4 and usually am uncomfortable with mowers but the handle adjusted to me perfectly. It rolled very smoothly and adjusts height with a single lever.
Earthwise 50020 works for me July 22, 2008 MP (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 15 years old electric MTD suddenly stopped working. So I decided to purchase another. I compared the quality and price. However, Earthwise 50020 came out to be the winner. I like adjusting the height using one lever only. I had to do it one wheel at a time in my old MTD. The sucking power is the same as my old MTD, so I can't complain. I also like the metal body. Unlike some others made from plastics. I always cut the grass when it is dry. Yes, I would recommend this lawn mower.
not bad September 9, 2008 S. Weamer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a typical electric mower. It does a pretty good job, but I wouldn't want to cut a large yard with it. I have to go over the grass several times to get an even cut. I also have to be a bit of a cowboy to manuver the cord but once I got used to it, it's very simple. One of the main reasons for buying an electric mower is because I don't have a shed, so I must carry the tool out of my basement when I want to use it. I'm glad that the handle folds down fairly easily (be careful you don't pinch the cord). The unit is a bit on the heavy side and there is no good way to carry it so that is a little cumbersome. I think it is priced right.
