you only use a cordless drill from time to time, there's not much need for this battery. But, if you use the cordless circular saw, or perhaps the hammer drill, the extra oomph from the XRP is well worth the extra bucks. I use my cordless circ saw (AKA cheese saw) extensively. I just love the thing for making a quick cut at the bench, or doing (quite literally} field work. The difference between the XRP and the standard battery is as obvious as rain in the cheese saw. In a drill? They go a bit longer between charges, but the difference is not nearly as striking. If you're a fan of the cordless circ (cheese) saw, I can't recommend the XRPs highly enough.
Hot Batteries April 11, 2007 Mark Klosky (Denver, Colorado) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As far as batteries go, they came, they charged, they performed flawlessly. The Dewalt XRP batteries are definitely worth the extra expense for longer run-times between charges, a must-have for the professional contractor.
More power February 10, 2007 D42JEEP (albany,ca) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my fifth one of these batteries. I have a DeWALT recip. saw, a trim saw, two hammer drills and three different styles of lights and so I go through a lot of recharges. I haven't had one go bad yet, and I like the fact that 14.4V units are a little lighter than their 18V counterparts. Amazon had the best price for this at the time I bought it but I see that it's gone up $10.00 in the last month. I bought an extra charger on E-bay so that I can charge 2 batteries at once. DeWalt seems to still be one of the best brand of power tools.

I could not find this battery(Dewalt 14.4)anywhere else cheaper than Amazon. So that is why I bought two of them for my husband. They are new and work great. Keep up the low prices and great service.
why shop away from home July 5, 2007 Terry Gorsline (Homer, MI United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Cant believe the price is 30 to 40 percent less than Sears or Lowes. At the walk in retail stores for this very same new battery! Works great, fits my 14.4 XR hammer drill fine. Only problem I see with upgrading is that I cannot close the drill case completly. With the XRP's being slighty larger outside diameter than the older batterys. But think i can remove some plastic ribbing of the case with a dremel tool. And it should at least close.
