Do not buy! August 11, 2008 J. Maples (San Jose, CA USA) This is an extremely poorly developed product that could not be worth more than a dollar. Made from very thin aluminum, when you insert the batteries you will discover that screwing the cap on and off is very difficult as the threading almost immediately warps. The button to turn the device on and off wore out on mine in less than a week. The flashlight is not bright enough for outdoor use and the photographs online make it look to be constructed of firmer and sturdier than it actually is; $5.95 is not a deal or bargain by any means. After buying one through Amazon, as an impulse addition to other purchases, I discovered that that gas station I frequent sells them as well, they come in a huge box, and he was charing $2 a piece.
Cancer? WTF?! August 21, 2008 Usni (Oregon, USA) As noted by other reviewers the flashlight has a warning that you may get cancer from the lead on the flashlight and you may have to wear special gloves. Now this may be a purely precautionary warning but it worried me enough not to even open the plastic casing. I will proabably sell it on eBay or something.
DANGER: Contains LEAD! August 21, 2008 W. H. NOVAK (Hollywood CA) Amazon should NOT SELL this flashlight; it has LEAD in it. I was shocked to read the Warning (which is printed so small it is impossible to read without a magnifying glass.) "WARNING, Always wear ANSI approved safety goggles when using this product. Before using this product, The user should read the operating instructions to understand everything about this product. Normal everyday use of this product is likely to expose the user to dust and microscopic particles containing lead and other chemicals known in the State Of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm. Always wear the appropriate clothing and safety equipment when operating this product. Wash hand thoroughly after the use and handling of this product."
Switch is not reliable August 31, 2008 G. Harcourt (San Antonio Texas) The push button switch does not always work. Have to mess with it and unscrew and rescrew the battery compartment part. Nice size and has enough light so I can see the buttons on the remotes controls when the room lights are dim and I am watching/listening the TV/DVD/CD. I would not buy a second unit of the same device.
Cheap = Cheap September 2, 2008 Amazon TX (Austin, TX United States) I have three of these and two have failed. One where the plastic faceplate just popped off one day. The only way to keep it on is with superglue. The second just quit altogether. Heavy duty? Not in my book.
