Powerful blower, poorly designed vacuum tube November 25, 2007 Richard Grove (San Francisco, CA) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I previously owned a Black and Decker leaf blower/vacuum. The bag literally disintegrated after 3 seasons despite a tremendous amount of patching. I had high hopes for the Toro. The bag works great but large dry leaves (sycamore in my case) clog the throat of the takeup tube and the shredded leaves sometimes clog the output tube into the bag. Others (oak and mulberry) are dispatched without problems. One warning: The piece the holds the takeup tube to the motor can become dislodged easily. Although there is a deadman (automatic cutoff), there is no brake so the blades continue spinning at a finger munching speed. Wear gloves.
Toro Ultra 12 Amp Electric Blower/Vacuum #51599 June 9, 2007 OngNoi (USA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Just came in yesterday. There is no problem, take 2 minutes to unpack and assemble, low noise. Speed controller is really handy for flower, garden and bushes area. You can run full speed @235 MPH on side walk, drive way to get job done in few minutes. Good Built, Great Product, Light Weight, and Quick Shipment. I love it!
Lightweight, all around great blower July 6, 2007 Monique S. (Nesconset, NY) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Ordered this for my husband after his old gas blower blew its last. I did my research and figured it was time to go electric even though I thought the cord might pose a nuisance. I'm glad I bought it regardless, because he loves this Toro! The fact that it's lightweight and VERY QUIET outweighs any cord issue. He even used it up on the roof to get rid of the accumulated Springtime sheddings from our Oak tree. I can't say how well (or badly) the vacuum part of this machine performs because we haven't tried that out yet. Bottom line, this is one purchase I do not regret, plus the price was unbeatable anywhere else, to boot!
My first leaf blower -- what a great tool! October 28, 2007 schmona (Chicago, IL United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have 4 mature oak trees on my property, and for the past 4 falls, I have manually raked the leaves. After reading about this blower in Consumer Reports' August or September 07 issue (it was ranked best), I decided to give it a try. I am really happy with this blower. I mainly use it to vacuum/mulch the leaves, and it does a good job. My only real complaint about this is that the vacuum attachment is a little too long for my 5'5" stature, so I'm somewhat clumsy with it. The shoulder adjustment strap also drops the bag a little lower on my hip than I would like. Other than that, I haven't had problems with it. Because of these two nuisances, I'm giving 4 stars.
works better than I expected June 27, 2007 Sheila (Tennessee, USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I read in Consumer Report that this was good, but was more impressed when I used it. Would stack this against my neighbors gas blower any day yet much lighter
