Belkin 7-port USB 2.0 hub December 7, 2007 B. Sisler 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The hub has worked flawlessly for me. With 5 ports on the rear of the unit, I can plug in peripherals that I don't often disconnect, like external disks, scanner, and printer. The two ports on top are great for flash drives, cameras, iPods or anything that doesn't stay connected all of the time. The lights on the front of the unit tell you at a glance which ports are in use. The cord storage on the side keeps disconnected cables from falling behind my desk when not plugged in. I highly recommend this hub.
some improvement needed! December 21, 2007 xdatman 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Pros: Top-insert ports and simple design. Cons: The power adapter is too big. It takes up 2 spaces on the power strip.
Will NOT charge iPhone or iPod when the computer is off April 17, 2008 robby818 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
This hub will NOT charge your iPhone or iPod when the computer is off. The computer must be be ON in order for these devices to charge. **Other USB devices may charge but the iPhone looks for "permission" before it starts charging when connected to a hub, to get permission it needs the computer to be on. Hubs are pretty much all the same in this respect...even though the hub is connected to an AC adapter, it will not necessarily charge your USB device. It depends on how "smart" the USB device is. Now it's different when you plug an AC adapter to the end of the iPhone USB cable, in that case the iPhone recognizes that it is connected to an adapter and not a USB port/hub and will just charge. Also, Belkin e-mailed me and said the manual is not correct. All seven ports operate at USB2 speed. Thank you for contacting Belkin Customer Support and for your patience. Hello, The information regarding the four ports are at high speed (480mb) is an error in the manual. All 7 ports are designed for high speed connection (USB 2.0 connection). Good Day, [...]
Works Great! December 16, 2007 M. Krueger 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have had this now roughly a week, and to test its limits I have kept it on even with my computer off. Product does generate warmth (very minimal) but allows to charge my phone, and mp3 player even with the computer off. Great little product to keep all of my cords neatly behind the desk, while having the clip to access the more common plugs (ie phone, and mini usb for mp3 player and card reader) I only wish it came in black!
Somewhat unreliable May 2, 2008 Miles Histand (portland,or) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
The Belkin 7-port is a fairly good product; however, unplugging portable USB drives and/or other devices while computer is sleeping can crash the computer. Aside from this faulty design, it performs well.
