It scares the dogs July 8, 2006 JoeB (Latin America) 15 out of 22 found this review helpful
I bought this for out on the patio, where the dogs sleep, to try and kill the bugs but its so noisy when it's zapping the insects that the dogs are scared to stay up on the porch while its running. When a large insect gets in there it can make a loud zap for a long while. It has killed some mosquitoes so far but it's mostly moths and green lacewings that are being killed. It would be great if they could make this quieter.
This product does not work August 9, 2006 Posey (MA) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
I know there are many people who've posted excellent reviews of this product, and that's what I based my decision to purchase on. However, I have a fairly small yard and no matter where I placed the bug zapper, we were still swarmed by mosquitoes. The zapper did seem to attract a lot of moths and beetles, but those weren't the bugs we were trying to get rid of. I would strongly not recommend this product.
Works Great! June 2, 2002 Ross (Winchester,TN) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This bug popper really does a great job. You do have to clean it ever so often. Really has controlled the mosquitos and knats. I recommend this to anyone with an average size yard.
Already Broke! April 27, 2002 Hugh D. Murray (Humble, TX United States) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
It seemed to be doing the job. Then after less than a year, it just quit working. I bought a new bulb to no avail. Now I'm stuck with a new bulb and left-over mosquito attractant! Bummer!
Do not buy this! September 26, 2007 Maggie O 6 out of 17 found this review helpful
Bug zappers kill many beneficial insects, but do not kill mosquitoes. They are not attracted to light. Insects are a necessary part of the food chain. They pollinate our food crops and wildflowers. An insect free world, as some of you seem to want, would mean no songbirds, also. How depressing that would be.
