5 out of 5 stars I liked it, but not sure of the hype...   June 21, 2008

I liked the 3D sidewalk chalk. My only "concern" was that the glasses give off the effect rather than the chalk being special. I don't work for Crayola but it seemed that the chalk was the regular stuff that they sell and the glasses in conjunction with drawing "properly" using thick lines and contrasting colors did the work.

My daughter and I also got the same effect using the new Crayola Color Surge markers and paper (which are also worthy of buying) with the glasses which made me question whether the chalk was special.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed. Not worth the price.   July 18, 2008

I read so many great reviews about the 3-D chalk and normally good reviews on Amazon means I'll be happy with the product. Not in this case.

The images do appear to float (slightly) but you need to fill in the images completely and press really hard with the chalk. The chalk iteself breaks and falls apart much quicker than traditional chalk.

The kids couldn't get their images to "float" because they weren't pressing hard enough. I spent a while recreating the images suggested in the directions. The kids were slightly impressed but after looking once or twice with the glasses, they went on to something else.

The pack of chalk lasted one afternoon and provided very little "WOW" factor.

At this price and with these reviews I was expecting so much more. I'd suggest you save your money. You're not missing out on anything "spectacular".

4 out of 5 stars Crayola 3D Chalk and Glasses   July 31, 2008

These glasses are fun to use. They separate the color spectrum to actually make the colors appear to float or sink into a surface. I was a bit disappointed to find out the chalk was the regular Crayola sidewalk chalk used everyday. Essentially you are buying the 3D glasses. The good thing is that any chalk can be used after the chalk provided in the pack is used up, which goes pretty quickly. It can also be used with contrasting colored crayons or markers. Overall, it's a fun project and even young children can see the color separation and "floating" images. It's a good product, but they should just sell the glasses separately and indicate it can be used with regular sidewalk washable chalks.

4 out of 5 stars We love it   August 29, 2008

My kids and I used these to decorate the sidewalk and driveway. The pictures really do look 3D. The large chalk is much easier for small hands to hold and doesn't break into pieces. This is even better paired up with the Crayola sidewalk paint. Great contrast. Washes off when it rains or hose it down.

5 out of 5 stars Even better than I could have hoped for!   June 21, 2008

My 6 year old daughter saw the 3D chalk advertises on tv and begged me for it. I was definitely skeptical that it would work like they showed on tv-especially since it was always shown on very dark black pavement. I bought if for her though and OH-WOW was I surprised at how great this stuff works. The colors are bright and vibrant evenon our light grey pavement and with the glasses pops out with 3 Dimensional Excitement!! Best summer toy for the money-plan on buying a few more as gifts. Important though-set aside the glasses-w/o them its just chalk, so you want to keep them where you can find them :)
