Used this in a college class, believe it or not. While this is not important to the review of the product, I just want to say this product arrived within three days of my order. I hadn't even received the email confirmation yet! I was so impressed, I ordered a second set and got the same service!!! This was the best service ever received from any amazon third party vendor in ten years!!!

We bought two sets for our son for Christmas, and the total is perfect, and the best bang for your $. The bricks are all big and easy to build with and there are enough to build many buildings and anything your imagination thinks of. Also bought a set of plates to build on. Probably did not need the biggest 16x16 one--almost too big and does not fit into the box when we clean up.
We also bought a small star wars lego set, and had a starter set with a window or two, and were dismayed to see how tiny the sets were when disassembled (even though they had many pieces). The bricks are definitely the way to go. I was worried about lack of windows and doors, but they are not missed at all.

Bought as a present for friends. They been looking for general legos like the ones they had as a kid and these were exactly what they remember. As soon as the received them they were building with them. Hours of fun and good for children of ages (including adults).

When I told my older son's I was getting this for my 8 year old, they thought I should get one of the new Lego sets, you know like star wars... I can remember spending hours upon hours with my Lego's when I was a kid. We didn't have no 'sets'. We used our imagination. Not many toys let you do this today.
So I went ahead and got this for my son who has everything and he hasn't stopped playing with them yet. He spends hours putting together his own little Lego men (armies) and builds his little Lego tanks, planes and ships and battles all day. Sure, this isn't one of the fancy sets. You know, the kind kids play with and then stick on a shelf when they have completed it. You never complete this set. I continues on as long as you have imagination.
While, I am not putting down the sets. I just think toy manufactures have run out of ideas. But hey, lets get back to the basics and let our kids grow. This was one of the best gifts I have ever gotten my son and he has already used more than any other (except his gaming systems).
Oh, and my older sons... They can't keep their hands off of them.
You can't go wrong with this one.

My son really likes having legos where he gets to decide what he builds and he has a lot of different sizes and colors of pieces. the handy plastic box it came in is a great bonus, the price was reasonable, and it shipped promptly.
