Not for the serious cuber March 3, 2007 S. (Honolulu, HI) 25 out of 31 found this review helpful
I cube a lot...have been a winner in a lot of local competitions, usually spending an hour or two every day on a cube, so I know my cubes. If you're a serious cuber, do not buy this cube. The stickers peel off, the turning radius is weak and it's very squeaky...not good if you're trying to cube in a library. The helpful hints are way too basic and aren't going to bring you up to the high level of competitive cubing. Save your money... [...].
Great for spatial relationships; lousy for durability November 19, 1999 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Within a month of buying my Rubik's Cube, all of the lamination on the yellow stickers had peeled off, and the stickers had faded to white. I had two white sides on my cube. Who has heard of a 30 day warranty? They should make it a year, and should put better stickers on the things.
Oddzon needs to use better stickers December 7, 1999 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Oddzon needs to improve the quality of stickers they use on the Rubik's cube. Within a week of playing with the cube, the plastic laminate began falling off and the colors began fading on the stickers. I have heard this complaint from many people and would urge people who want to buy this product to consider these problems.
Greatest puzzle ever made - if the stickers didn't fall off! May 13, 2000 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is probably the ultimate mind-expanding drug. I call it mind-expanding because it is marvelous for enhancing your spatial and mathematical capabilities, as well as changing the very way you look at problems in real life. I call it a drug because it is amazingly addictive! Once you scramble it (which is surprisingly easy), it will take you weeks, if not months, of obsessive frustration to solve it even once. Once you do, though, you will be hooked, and after a short time, you'll be blindingly fast at it. It took me 5 weeks to solve it initially, but less than two months after that, I was down to 5 minutes. However, there is one downside to the new, modern version of this magic cube: after those three months, my cube looked like it was older than me! The plastic over the stickers peeled off, and then...well, needless to say, my cube now has two white sides, like many of the other reviewers' here. So, I reiterate what they have said: Please, can the people at Oddzon make the Cubes like they were in the good old days, when they were as indestructible as a can of Spam?
Not for Speed Cubing July 28, 2006 ZemiGod (Rego Park, New York USA) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
A fine cube for someone who isn't consistently using it. It is a little stiff to start with but it is solidly constructed and also decently weighted. The stickers on mine fell off about two weeks after I bought it. The problem is that the color of the stickers is provided by a transparent piece of plastic adhesive, so when it peels off the color goes with it. Would have been better if the stickers underneath contained the color instead.
