5by5 Rubik's Cube May 12, 2008 Lynn Centariczki (Merrimac, MA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this for my daughter. She has already mastered the three by three and four by four Rubik's cubes. This was the natural next step. It is exactly what we expected. And she is close to figuring this one out, too.
great puzzle like its predecesors May 20, 2008 Yonatan Cohen 2 out of 5 found this review helpful

Pretty Sweet March 8, 2007 Danni S 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pretty cool, but I'm only giving it 3 stars because it is SO hard to move. It took me 5 hours to solve and I guarantee most of that time was trying to move it! It also sometimes feels like it is going to fall apart. However, still an awesome product.
Another winner from Rubik's May 7, 2007 Kyle Moyer (Miamisburg, OH USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great puzzle for anyone over the age of ten. Anyone younger would probably get frustrated with it too easily. Overall it very fun to solve, even if it does get mundane after you figure out the technique. It obviously takes more time to solve than the classic 3x3 cube, as well as the 4x4 cube, but once you know how, it definitely isn't any harder than either of them. The cube comes very stiff (hard to turn) from the factory, but after you play with it a while it tends to loosen up. The only gripe I have is about how easy it can be to "lock" the slices by not having them lined up right, but once you get used to it, you have the problem less and less. Suggested for anyone who enjoys a good challenge!

If you've mastered the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube and the 4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge then the 5x5x5 is the toy for you.
It provides that extra challenge, but you can use
strategies from the smaller cubes too.
My only disappointment is that it did not seem quite as
robust as my smaller cubes which I have had for
over 20 years. Also a couple of the colors are already
showing some signs of peeling at the edges - whereas my 20 yr old cubes look as good as new.
