The website was unable to handle the Christmas season load. As far as time to work out the kinks - Webkinz has been around for long enough time and has endured one other Christmas - they should understand the concept of site loading.
My daughter's penguin, one of 3, is lost in limbo. I am having NO luck getting it un-lost, and I'm mad about it - mainly because it's nearly impossible to send in detailed info of the bug via their site, (One of 3 possible codes belongs to the penguin and I"m not sure which)
Webkinz never got back to my initial email (They used to have a link to send a customer servicer request that was generic. It seems they have taken it down)
When it works, it works well. When it doesn't, it's a horrid mess because of the lack of customer support.
Google the toy before buying it to get your own sense. There are far too many people with "lost" webkinz or tags on brand new ones that are "already in use" according to the site.

I'm not sure why children would need more than one WebKin, singular, in terms of what the toy offers, but apparently kids are prone to hoarding them. Mine do. This penguin in particular is a big hit with the 1st grader. Despite its status as antarctic contraband, she insists on sneaking the penguin into school on a regular basis = )

I ordered this product for my daughter for Christmas. It came just 2 days later. I couldn't believe it. The cost was $30 though, almost double what this costs in the store. That's a bit too high. The customer service was excellent however.
