4 out of 5 stars Goodbye abs of steel tape!   January 16, 2002

If you are expecting something like a hardcore ab workout then guess again... this is yoga. It's well rounded with breathing techniques and relaxation on top of moves to strengthen and tone your abs all in 20 mins... great for doing before bed or first thing in the morning. Rodney Yee's voice is soothing, giving good instruction so you don't have to look at the TV very often, and the photography is so beautiful. I'm a yoga virgin so a lot of moves are quite hard to master, but who said that it would be easy?

If you're looking for something different to do rather than the traditional way, try this video out. The relaxation and breathing techniques are great for reducing stress and let you feel refreshed. Creating a tranquil atmosphere (like candles or soft lighting)whilst doing the tape can help enhance the mood it aims for. Rodney Yee does it, he's in a tranquil place on the video and not in a studio.

I use this more for relaxing than a full on ab workout.

5 out of 5 stars Great tape!   January 29, 2001

Even though the tape is only 20 minutes, you definitely feel like you're getting an excellent workout targeting your abs. An approach you'll enjoy instead of the same old crunches or sit ups. Rodney Yee is a fantastic instructor. I have many yoga videos and this is one of the best.

Then this is the ab workout for you. Even if you've never done yoga before, you'll be able to follow this tape. The addition of breathing and relaxation exercises, soothing music, and breathtaking scenery leave you feeling refreshed rather than drained at the end of your workout. The ab exercises are varied enough to keep you interested and just difficult enough so that you see and feel the results. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Relaxing, gentle, but works!   February 14, 2001

I love it! Even though the exercises seem gentle, after only two times I felt the effects deep in the abdominal muscles. It really works, and you don't feel like you're killing yourself. I'd caution you to protect your back by either bending your legs or putting your hands under your hips during the straight legged lifts until your abs get strong, otherwise it's all good.

3 out of 5 stars 30 minutes of tape -7 minutes of yoga   October 25, 2001

You will not do any yoga until about 12 minutes of advertising and warnings have been displayed plus the obligatory yoga mood adjustment scenes for a couple more minutes. Between minutes 18 and 22 Rodney does some serious ab work but thats about it. All those promos that say "good for the beginner and something for the more advanced" are standard marketing hype. Its just not worth the cost.
