Great for all those pregnancy aches and pains January 24, 2003 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I used this video all the way through my twin pregnancy. I did it almost every day up until the day I went into labor. My pregnancy went the whole 40 weeks and the babies were born at 7 and 7 1/2 lb. Needless to say, I was huge the last few weeks! I looked forward to doing this video every day because it gave me an hour of relief. It really helped loosen up stiff joints and tight muscles. A lot of the poses were especially good for opening up the chest and relieving the major rib pain that I had from the upper baby that always seemed to have his feet stuck in my ribs. I have done yoga for several years, and didn't really need to do any of the modifications for the poses until the 7th or 8th month. I rarely did the 3rd trimester modifications except on days when I was especially tired.
Great video March 8, 2004 Laurie (Oahu, HI) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I bought this video between my 3rd and 4th month. After working through the moves I feel relaxed and more flexible. If my back is sore before I do the tape, it isn't afterward. The video is also broken into segments so if you don't have time for the whole tape you can do part of it. The tape isn't too corny either. I recommend it highly for some easy to do stretches and breathing exercises. Enjoy!!
Highly recommended! November 3, 2001 Leslie Hale (Mpls, MN United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The yoga in this video helps alleviate my low-back stiffness everytime I use it. I especially recommend it for athletic women who are feeling stiff and achey during pregnancy, and want to do more stretching so they can continue running during pregnancy. It's easy to follow even for yoga beginners, and covers all stretches and exercises usually recommended for pregnant woman.
Needed some major improvements September 23, 2003 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have been practicing yoga on and off for more than five years and took one year of beginning and intermediate Tai Chi when I was in college. I bought Shiva Rea tape because of all the 4 and 5-star reviews made by Amazon.com consumers; however, I was disappointed after using the after a few weeks. I gave it a three star because of the following reasons:STRENGTHS ========= -Three different models for the three different trimesters. -Good breathing techniques. -Soothing Music. WEAKNESSES ========== -Very ambiguous Kegel pose-needed better explanation and instructions. -Misleading title because she incorporated some Tai Chi poses such as the hip and knee rotations. -Inconsistent timing of each pose; some poses run way too short. -Transition between one pose to another is extremely awkward. -Incorrect instruction on one of the chair poses. -Too many chair poses in two different sessions; The best approach is to integrate all those poses into one session. ...Shiva didn't pace the timing between each pose consistently. I don't believe that this tape is designed for a beginner because of some incomplete instructions in certain poses. I would suggest to sign up for about five prenatal yoga sessions at your local community before using the tape. If you are looking for a five-star prenatal yoga, keep on looking!
Don't do pregnancy without this!!! October 14, 2003 Stephanie Y. (Nashville, TN) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this yoga session with Shiva Rea. I was able to use it during my entire pregnancy because the poses are modified for each timester-- what a wonderful concept! I can't imagine not having this video during my 1st trimester when I needed a lift from feeling naseous, or during my 2nd timester when I needed to be moving to feel good, or during my 3rd timester when my back and muscles were filled with tension. The exercises are perfectly designed for the aches and pains of pregnancy, as well as for birth preparation. In fact, you'll find many of these same poses recommended in the best natural childbirth books. The relaxation session at the end is a nice reward, and I always look forward to hearing Shiva Rea end by saying, "May you enjoy a radiant pregnancy, and motherhood. Namaste."
