excellent musical with great soundtrack, dance moves February 1, 2004 LC LEK (Singapore) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I first watched this many years ago (early 90s) and had enjoyed its dance moves and its music in the movie. This is basically a 80s musical (a pity less and less musical movies these days). The music (OST) is great. Retro-hip yet the music composition is not of the conventional UK beats. It gives great mass dancing moves.Overall the plot is encouraging and motivating and best of all, music and the dance moves me. Enjoy!
Fast Foward - Fun Movie February 21, 2004 Porscha (Maryland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great movie. Some make fun of the cheesy story line but by the end of the movie you will be singing all of the songs! The dancing and choreography is so fun, you can't resist trying it yourself!

I really love this movie. For those who wish to sell this movie please contact me, I would love to own this movie. This movie puts me in mind of Breakin' aka (breakdance). The messages may be a little different but the dancing is very similar. I'm just an 80's movie fan what can I say. Again, this is a great movie. You won't be disappointed! :)
Truly cheesy fun! March 9, 1999 Michelle Weego LaRoche (Houston, Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I originally found this musical gathering dust at the local video rental shop. Directed by *gasp* Sidney Poitier, it is a truly dated masterpiece as it follows a group of energetic small-town high schoolers seeking fame as a dance troop in the big city of New York. Not only are the original songs poppish and typical of any mid-80's Top 40 song written by Madonna or Rick Springfield, they are also highly addictive! So addictive you could bang your head against a wall a number of times before losing the peppy themes and your consciousness. I truly recommend seeing this movie after a bad day with a big bucket of popcorn and a six-pack of your favorite adult beverage. It will make you laugh and appreciate the evolution of man! Happy Viewing!
movie was overall uplifting and a breath of fresh air March 19, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
