5 out of 5 stars I guess ya just had to be there!   April 13, 2004

True, this movie was left out of the 1982 Oscars and has little in the way of redeeming qualities, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth a look. I'd recommend this to any GUY who attended college in the early '80's and experienced a good old fashioned beach week under questionable housing conditions drinking beer that you normally would have avoided at home. If you fit this description, pick up a copy of this movie. If not, don't bother, because chances are you truly wouldn't understand. No deep meanings or hidden messages here, just unchained stupidity and an attack on your sobriety, which was never the point of a beach trip anyway. Another reason I consider this movie a five star classic is the soundtrack (which I actually OWN a copy of!) Corinne Wahl, the major babe whose boobage is an unlisted co-star in this flick, is the lead "singer" for an all girl "band". Their best song is the classic "I Wanna Do It With You", and it's arguably worth the price of admission to see Corinne belt this killer tune out.

4 out of 5 stars Very Funny.   May 21, 2002

I just happened to catch this movie on HBO late last Friday night and I'm glad I did. Until I saw "Spring Break" I believed that "Gymkata" was the worst movie ever made. Although "Spring Break" is a comedy, almost all of the laughs are completely untintentional and the film itself is strangely homoerotic. One a positive note, fans of women with REAL body parts will enjoy the beach themed fun. No Botox, silicone, hair weaves, capped teeth or ... tans were used in the making of this film. If you are a fan of very bad movies, you will definitely enjoy this one.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best movies in the 80's.   July 17, 2003

One of the best movies in the 80's. I wish it was on DVD.

Party movie, watch while partying with your buddies!

4 out of 5 stars Can't believe this movie is not on DVD   July 9, 2005

I absolutely love Spring Break. I also own the video version and have watched it over the years numerous times! I even have the original LP which is an awesome soundtrack! There is so much crap out there today that is on DVD that I am in utter amazement that this movie is still not on DVD at this point! I am not even sure to call or write about this? I can definitely say I am another big fan of this movie!

5 out of 5 stars Classic 80s Movie   September 13, 2007

I used to watch Spring Break a lot in the 80s. It was on one of the cable movie channels just about every week during the summer of '84. (I was a bored, unemployed kid) As a teen, I wasn't looking for any depth to this movie and as an adult, I still don't expect any - IT'S CALLED "SPRING BREAK"! So, if you understand that you are viewing a movie that is born out of the grind house films of the 70s and is nothing like "Beaches," you should be in the right mindset to enjoy this film for what it is.

It's fluffy escapism - beer, babes, guys, cars, beer, belly flop contests, beer, etc. Over the years, it has also become a bit of a time capsule to the spirit of 1983, the year it was released. I guess it's kind of like my generation's Annette Funicello "beach" movies, but with more drinking and innuendo.

The director, Sean S. Cunningham, also directed "Friday the 13th" (the original). I'd argue that in the same way "Friday the 13th" is considered a "classic" of the teen slasher genre, "Spring Break" should be considered a "classic" of the teen beach party genre (if there is such a thing).

You won't be left analyzing this film when it's over, but perhaps you will feel refreshed after taking a trip back in time and escaping reality for 90 minutes.

And, yes, this deserves to be on DVD!
