5 out of 5 stars Leslie Rocks!   December 24, 2002

Leslie has done it again! I already have and LOVE the Walk Away The Pounds series of tapes (1, 2 and 3 mile walks) so I ordered the Walk Away The Pounds For Abs series. WOW! This is an excellent work out! I was skeptical before I ordered my first set of tapes. Afterall, who would ever imagine that walking in your own living room could produce such great results? But Leslie combines several movements and incorporates weights in a way that could never be done in your average "walk around the neighborhood". I've had the original series for quite awhile and continue to use them almost daily because they're so effective. This new series is both challenging and fun at the same time. The ab belt provides just the right amount of resistance to give your muscles a great work out. Leslie has also added some new moves this time around for more variety. The work out never gets boring or routine. I especially like that her walking buddies are REAL women (and Randy too of course) with REAL bodies. This was an excellent investment that will not be sitting on my shelf collecting dust.

4 out of 5 stars Good workout, not sure about the belt   March 30, 2003

This workout is a LOT like her original Walk Away the Pounds series, however, with this one, she uses the walk-away belt instead of the weights. I didn't really feel like the belt help me too much other than to remind me to hold my abs in as I did the workout, but the workout itself is great. It's faster-paced than her first WAP series, so if you'd just like a little variety in your Leslie Sansone collection, then these will be a great addition. You really feel like your burning some serious calories, although her workouts are nothing fancy choreography-wise. But, as I'm a pretty experienced exerciser, I felt like I was a little more advanced so the elastic bands on the belt didn't help me much. You can just use your walk-away weights instead. If you want serious, no-nonsense workouts that's easy on your joints, fun to do, and one that doesn't make you feel like you spent your time just concentrating on following the steps, these are for you. You'll look forward to doing them, that's for sure.

2 out of 5 stars Good workout, but the belt kept breaking.   July 31, 2003

Now don't get me wrong, I love Leslie Sasone videos, but this is the worst of the bunch. Leslie's first set with the weight balls was a hit, but this was going too far. The laytex cords are very thin, and that made it easy to break. My mom and I shared a belt, and it broke after 2 1/2 weeks. We called the company, and got a replacement. That one broke after 2 weeks as well. So I decided to experiment and have only me use it. That didn't work. Well, we called them again and told me we would have to buy a new belt. We just had enough and did the workouts without the belt. when she came on QVC shilling this, my mom called to see if she could get on and tell her about the badly constructed belt (she couldn't get in because only people with good things to say could get on air lol). After a while, I just got bored that I did the 1-mile workout because it was quick. Thankfully, Leslie has redeemed herself with her new product that features a "Stretchie" band. The band is durible but I still use the lowest resistance possible to be on the safe side. I like doing walk aerobics because it is the only thing that works for me (I have lost 40 pounds from her programs). Spend your money on her other programs and pass this one up. Even the company will tell you they have had many complaints from it.

I have these videos after my mother bought them for me. I'm really shocked at the comments in these reviews about how "low impact" these are. When you stand in one place, and keep marching, that will kill your knees. I have bursitis in both knees, and because of these tapes, I now have early onset arthritis. I'm again shocked that people with "bad knees" loved these videos. The folks at my mom's office do these videos each work day, and the "leader" of the group had to bow out due to knee replacement surgery after losing many pounds [80?] due to these videos. I've lost 21 pounds in 3 months due to simple exercise [20 minutes min. daily] and cutting back on what I eat. Nothing sensational here. Just like these videos. Nothing sensational. Please, if you have poor knee structure to begin with, choose Kathy Smith or someone else. I have a ton of Kathy Smith videos, and all of her exercises are done with a physical therapist. These videos are made for the novice exerciser....a person who will over-extend their bodies to the degree that they will pull muscles and harm themselves. My mother used these videos, and also had to stop due to joint issues. These videos are harmful to your joints. Please, watch yourselves carefully if you choose this exercise route. Losing weight is a wonderful thing [especially after giving birth, like I have], but don't sacrifice your long term health for short term goals.

4 out of 5 stars Making the Belt Last Forever!   December 11, 2003

I too broke the walkaway belt in the first few weeks of use. So I replaced the blue stretchy cords that came with it with that rubber surgical tubing [the kind they use to tie around your arm when they're going to take blood] which is available at any medical supply place for about 15 a foot. I haven't had that tubing break in over a year of daily use, but if it did, I'd buy more. The belt and handles themselves should last a very long time. The tapes are great, and if they used that tubing instead of the rubber cord that comes on the belt, I'd give six stars!
