Doesnt get any better August 5, 2002 PootieTAng (USA) 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
Well, yea the game isnt out yet. But hey with a car line up like this, how can it be bad? Lambo's Ferraris, Mercedes, and, of course, the king of all supercars - McLaren. Throw in amazing graphics and the best arcade racing ever seen and you have a winner. I don't know about you, but this game is a must-buy to me.
EA RipOff Artists November 23, 2002 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am seriously considering not ever buying an EA game again. There is something sleazy going on between them and Sony.Play the XBOX version then go check out the PS2 version.Same price but the PS2 version is loaded with extras and better tracks...Oh and the cars are definitely a lot better looking graphically, alot sharper with brighter colors. There is a clear sheen to the paint schemes that totally makes the cars look more real.Sony gets their games first and the others get a chopped up,lack-luster,cheap imitation of the real deal. You're going to end up paying the same price for a chopped up game! The only plus for the XBOX version is the smoothness of the games scenery, not as choppy as the PS2 version...
Good game.... but could have been ELCELENT November 28, 2002 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recently bought this game after buying Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit a couple of years ago. NFS3 was a GREAT game!!! The graphics might not have been the best but it had great replays (you could choose what camera you wanted to use, or let the computer select views), and the Hot Pursuit Mode blew me away... is was sooo fun, especially being the cop. However this game was a pretty good game, but it didn't live up to what I thought it would be. First I'll point out the good points of this game. This game has EXCELLENT graphics, cars, and tracks. There are two regular single player modes... Championship (w/ out cops), and Hot Pursuit (w/ cops). Hot Pursuit in this game is pretty good... the best part of being chased by cops is when you are doing so good they call in "Air Support," and suddenly a helicopter begins dropping EXPLOSIVE BARRELS in front of you. If you are just playing around it is really fun to purposely run into them. But my other favorite part of this game are the 360 Slow Motion cameras that circle your car in slow motion, or pan across as you fly by in slow motion when ever you catch air, hit an explosive barrel, or run through a road block. This game did have some bad and VERY annoying parts to it though. The first thing that I noticed is that this game has HORRIBLE replays, they are just exactly what you saw, except you can change the speed. That means that besides the Slow Motion cameras, and looking behind your car, you never see the front of your car. Also even more annoying is when you have to be the cop (in NFS3 being the cop was really fun, you would have to strategically stop the other car by cutting it of, running it into a tree, etc...), you just ram the car as hard as you can. Now that may be more simple, but unless you hit him hard, it doesn't do ANYTHING. So you go as fast as you can, and try and hit him. The annoying part is when you pass him, slow down, look behind you, suddenly he speeds past you (acceleration much faster they you can), and you have to catch him again. Well that is what I though of this game... hope it helped you
Possibly the best nfs ever! October 2, 2004 racer tim (karachi korea) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I can't see how anyone can say anything negative about this game. The graphics are excellent, almost as good as underground, and gameplay is great. Personally I thought that this game had well mixed simulation and arcade driving physics. I mean you can still do a powerslide using the handbrake, but you don't go into annoying oversteer like in nfs porshe. And now to come to the title point of the game. Hot pursuit! This has been vastly improved from the original tilte. In nfs3 you could only race against 1 other racer while in hot pursuit mode, but now you can race against a full grid. Plus you earn points from gettting away from the police. It's a bit easier to get away now, but if you get caught once thats it. And you see a great movie of your driver getting hauled into a police car by about 6 armed cops. This cracked me up the first time I saw it. The cops use an even greater variety of weapons to stop you, including a helicopter that drops bombs onto the road! So you end up driving on a winding course, trying to pass your opponents while escaping from police and dodging other police coming from in front of you, and avoiding flaming bombs dropped from helicopters.(and pushing the cops and opponents into them!) The only complaints I have to make are that the cars are not realistic in their stats(like a ferrari 360 spider can outrun a Porshe turbo in this game, while in real life it couldn't), and that your opponents never seem to get busted by the police. If you own a PC or PS2 you should definetly get this. You'll love it if you liked nfs4 and nfs3, or any other arcade racers, or even if you liked the racing part of underground. But if you liked the great physics in nfs5 you may be dissapointed at nfshp2's fast arcade style gameplay.
Great Game June 15, 2005 D. Regenold 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Wow this game is awesome. If you like racing games then this is the one 4 u. This game has great graphics, awesome cars, and innumerable tracks(because u can play each track in 4 different directions). The handling and speed of the cars are more realistic than any other racing game i've ever played. I only have 2 complaints with this game, 1)The cops are too hard at the very beginning of the game, they have way to fast cars and they are to skilled for the very first levels. Through the game though you learn how to avoid them and it gets about twice as fun. 2) The damage to the cars when you wreck isnt very realistic. I hit a tree going almost 200 mph and all it did was make my car smoke out the back and it opened my hood. It didn't even effect the way my car drove. This game has great graphics. When you go off road the smoke from the ground isn't just black/gray like other racing games, its actually the color of the ground and its not all blocky looking. Also another thing i like is that when u make skid marks they don't go away throughout the race. I think that's awesome because i like to look at my skid marks to see the mistakes i make the first time and try not to make that same mistake more than once. Also the cars look like real cars. The shininess of the paint actually changes with the different lighting of the track. Since there are so many cars and tracks you cant ever get bored with this game. I love this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes racing games with great graphics and awesome cars. This game rox.
