The game was really intense until German Shepherds were used to be killed. It really surprised me that I had to shoot a dog in this game. Really sucks!!!

OVERVIEW: Call of Duty 4 is an amazing game that truely defines the genre. The game takes place in a modern times instead of World War 2 like in previous games. The story revolves around a war that never happened that involves ultranationalists, terrorists, and nukes. The game is viewed in first person perspective and never goes into a third person view. GAMEPLAY: Call of Duty 4 plays great. The controlls feel tight and responsive and the action is frantic and demanding. The intense firefights in every level make the game an entertaining expierience the whole way through. There is a good variety of weapons ranging from AK-47's and M16's to M5's and Javelins. The AI is great and when you play on the harder levels it can be frustrating trying to kill your enemies. Also, this Call of Duty adds some interesting gameplay mechanics. For example, now you can shoot through materials like wood, sheet metal, and walls and the bullets will still damage opponents. This game is great in the gameplay area. GRAPHICS To sum it up this game looks incredible. In some of the nighttime levels it almost looks photorealistic. The character models look great and the levels are realistic. The weapons are exactly the same as their real life counterparts and the game runs at 60 frames per second. Any framerate hitches were not noticed and I expierienced no slowdown while playing the game. SOUND The sound in Call of Duty is the strongest point right next to gameplay. The weapons sound realistic and with surround sount it sounds like your actually on a battlefield. Squadmates will yell their positions and if they are outnumbered. The enemy will yell in their native languages. The background music is not the best I've heard in a game but it is still very good. All of the sound effects are great. MULTIPLAYER The multiplayer in Call of Duty 4 is exceptionally well done. With the abilily to make your own classes, enhance your weapons, and complete the weapon specific challenges COD 4 online feels somewhat RPG like. The action is faced paced in multiplayer and you seem to die fast. However you can see who killed you with the kill cam feature. After you die you see the aiming reticule of the person who killed you and it gives you an instant replay of your demise. There are alot of gameplay modes including your standard Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag but there are also many other modes you will probably want to try. The only concern I have with multiplayer is that occasionally it will take up to a half-hour to get into a party. This sometimes doesn't happen and it depends how many people are playing the game. The game also supports 4-player split-screen and LAN games. REPLAYABILITY With the single-player campaing lasting around 5-6 hours COD 4 is not a super long game. However, even if you don't have a PSN account its still worth a buy. Everytime you play the enemy acts different to different tactics and cover options. Everytime you play through it will be like fighting entirely new battles. Then you could spend forever playing multiplayer. So COD 4 scores well in this area. PROS Amazing visualls top-notch gameplay stellar multiplayer engaging story sound is great CONS Single player campaign is a little bit short No co-op
Call of Duty 4 Is Destined To Be A Classic! November 8, 2007 T. Romano (Salt Lake City, Utah) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Call of Duty 4 is by far one of the best games to come out this year for any console or PC platform. The game is even better than any action movie that has come out to local movie theaters this year. The game is just slightly better than Halo 3 which up to this time was one of my favorite games to come out this year. Now my review is based on the single player portion of the game only. There is no comparison between Call of Duty 4 and Medal of Honor: Airborne as far as which is a better game to play. Medal of Honor: Airborne has just six missions to play through and that's it. I am not making that up. Medal of Honor: Airborne takes place during World War II with American Airborne soldiers fighting the Axis throughout Europe during the war. The first four missions in Medal of Honor: Airborne are very realistic. The last two missions are like made up fantasy missions where you are fighting Super Nazi Soldiers that take forever to kill. Call of Duty 4 is a ten times better game to play than Medal of Honor: Airborne. I could tell from the very first minute that I started to play Call of Duty 4 just how great a game it was going to be. The graphics in the game are just simply amazing. They are by far the best graphics I have ever seen in any game except for Crysis. Crysis is the game to beat as far as graphics go. The very first mission in the game takes place on a Russian freighter out in the middle of the ocean where you play the role of a British soldier fighting Russian terrorists aboard ship at night in stormy weather. Just to look at the water come up against the ship is amazing. I just had to stop to look at the huge ocean waves hitting the sides of the ship. I couldn't believe how real the ocean waves look hitting the sides of the ship. In another mission, I play the role of an American Marine fighting terrorists in the middle of a Middle Eastern city. My character, along with some fellow American Marine soldiers, are supporting an American tank going through the middle of this city. Well an enemy tank approachs us and the American tank you are supporting fires a round from the tank's main gun at the enemy tank. The enemy tank gets hit and explodes and the turret on the enemy tank flies off into the air. It was one best looking explosions I have ever seen in a game. In another mission in Russia you are again playing the role of the British soldier. An enemy helicopter follows you around at night with a big searchlight trying to find you and some fellow British soldiers. Why you are trying to avoid being detected by the enemy helicopter, you get attacked by some enemy German Shepherd dogs that are the most realistic dogs I have ever seen in a game. The dogs look very real. Call of Duty 4 reminds me a lot of what is going on today with the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan today. The game makes me proud of our American soldiers who are serving over in Iraq and Afghanistan today. You learn to appreciate more our men and women in uniform and all the sacifices they are making today for our freedoms. This game should definitely be added to your collection.
Better than Ghost Recon 2 November 8, 2007 M. P. Wooten (MN) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
COD 4 is a much better and more realistic game than Ghost Recon 2. The only thing it lacks is length. I think they could have had another mission. There are a few different bad guys out there that they could have put in the game. After 6 hours of gameing the story ended. The game itself was very realistic, made me feel I was back in Iraq sometimes. The little mission after all the credits is probably the funnest mission of the game. There should be more of those in the game next time. So once you beat this game let the credits roll through there is one more mission after the credits.
You need this game. November 9, 2007 Jetfyre214 IS your role model!!! (Riding Topless) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love all types of games but the shear visuals and feeling this game provides in single and multi player go above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. The weapons in the game are realistic in how they recoil and look. It is a kill or be killed type of game that requires you to think about every move you make and corner you turn. The online multiplayer has more game options than I have ever seen in a game like this so the variety and replay will keep this game a major player in for a long time. The maps graphics a amazing sometimes it looks like you are watching a movie or the news. If you dont have it get it!!!
