PSP is missing some basics features... May 17, 2008 Prakash Heda (Santa Clara) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I read various reviews before buying this stuff...adding some issues which u need to consider before buying.. No games can be stored on memory unless you spend 50 bucks to buy a pandora battery to install custom firmware.....not sure how come nobody mentioned it....this should be highlighted in bold letters....... No Bluetooth (I am used to listning music on bluetooth for hours, with my noice cancelling headsets after an hour it becomes so irritating) Touch screen (without that using IE or typing anything is such a pain) I repeat this is a big issue if you want to use it for IE.... Running games from disk is very slow.... Headphone plug is right at botton of PSP which means if you have to connect a headphone then device cant be on a PSP dock, keep in your hand...(had it been on right or left of device I would be so easy) Volume is very very low.....by any standards, i just can't believe that for almost any good movie/video i had to put headphones on to listen..... I am using windows pocket pc phones for last 5 years....only issue was battery thus I though of having a device which can server as secondary portable player and can be used for games, but after buying I realized, I am addicted to use better technologies.... Not many good games are there for PSP.... Having said that if you are looking for a PSP player which has good portable multimedia player functionality....this is the best available device..... But that does not excuse it not to have better speakers, bluetooth or touchscreen inbuilt into device.... Having GPS inbuilt will be an excellent addition to its capability..... So now you know some more details to take your call....
Simply the Best May 19, 2008 Ken Hansen (Conifer, CO USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I got the new PSP Slim, I knew I'd be getting a powerful gaming device and media player. But within minutes I learned that I was getting much more. The first thing that you notice about the PSP is the high quality games. There are many great titles in all genres, and with PS2 level graphics, who couldn't find a game for them. What's more then that, with the new cache mode, the slim doesn't have to trade beautiful games for sluggish loading times. Another function of the PSP is the music player. I'm not the type of person who listens to musicevery waking moment, but if I ever get tired of games (which isn't very often) the music player delivers. There is no way to give more then one layer to any playlist, so an Ipod or Zune is a better choice for music junkies, but for a bit of music between games, the PSP is more then adequit. Under the network tab are many varied programs. From Skype to radio to a full blown internet browser. The browser may be slow and the skype admittedly useles, but these features can come in extremly handy. The internet browser has bookmarks and a homepage, so google can be used at hotspots without a laptop. The final feature that I come to is the video. Whether you are just storing your favorite videos or useing it to watch the news, the video is very helpful. The video is best pared with the RSS (found under the network tab) which can download video automaticly. News sites like CNN offer news feeds that can keep you updated away from a computer or TV. Overall, the PSP is the ultimate portable game system, not only beacause of it's high quality games, but everything else that a good portable divice needs. Game saves don't take up too much space, but to get the most out of your PSP, I'd reccomend a four or eight gigabyte memory stick. The PSP has given me hours of entertainment and is suprisingly durable. All of these features and advantages have made the PSP my most valued possesion and favorite toy. I know that anyone without a bias opinion would tell you the same thing.

Okay I'm a GIRL and when I got this system for my birthday I thought they'd have games for both genders girls and boys apparently they make more guy games which is okay considering I'm a tom boy to begin with but still it wouldn't hurt for sony to make games that are a little bit more leened towards girls I mean okay listen to this these are the games I have for this system: 1. Madden NFL 2007 2. Cars 3. Eragon 4. WWE SmackDown 2007 5. Spongebob the Yellow Avenger All expect for spongebob do these honestly sound like girl games I think not sorry but I'm a nintendo fan all the way. Hey if anybody finds out that they made some girl games for this system please by all means WRITE A COMMENT FOR THIS REVIEW serciouly! Oh and let me know if they make any barbie, or dragon ball z games for this system thank you. will be greatly appriated.
PSP Slim 2000 July 15, 2008 David Jaquez (San Luis, CO USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The PSP Slim 2000 is the newest model of the PSP. It is lighter & slimmer then the older versions. It has and LCD Screen. The only disappointments are the USB Cable & Headphones come seperatley as does the Memory Stick Duo & Pouch. But it comes with the PSP, AC Adapter & Battery Pack. The PSP has so many features though. You can upload photos from your camera or PC to your PSP. You can get music from your computer and transfer it to your PSP. You can also upload videos to your PSP. You can play games & share them. You can acess the internet with your PSP with its WiFi. You can get internet radio as well. With its LocationFree Player, you can get TV or your DVD & DVR content. You can also get Skype & RSS Channels. You can watch movies with UMD's. You can also change the settings for you PSP. You can get Network Updates, the USB Connection, your Video settings for the UMD's & your own videos, your photo settings for your slideshow & photos, system settings for you name, language, battery information, system information, enabling & restoring settings. For the theme settings, you can change the background, color of it, or even get wallpapers. For the Date & Time settings, you can change the date and time, time & date format, the timezones & daylight saving. For the Power Save settings, you can change the Backlight Auto-Off, the Auto Sleep & WLAN Power Save. For the Connected Display settings, you can change options to make your PSP compatible with your TV. You can change your Sound & Security settings. For the Network settings, you can change the modes for it. The downfalls are the screen scratches easily & fingerprints get everywhere. You need a case for it. The UMD tray is not as fancy as the last PSP. The PSP may not for younger children because of responsability & caretaking. Oher then that, its the best handheld system.
Great Portable July 21, 2008 voiceoverthewall.com (United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The PSP is a great portable gaming system with multimedia capabilities. It can play movies, music, stream video and radio, and surf the web via wi-fi. I use it 99% of the time as a gaming system for when I go on vacation. It is a great entertainment device for this purpose. It has many mainstream games and if you are familiar with the Playstation/PS2/PS3 titles available, you will feel right at home with the PSP. Overall this is a great system that is less kid-oriented like the Gameboy series of devices. It is a precision piece of hardware with an exposed glass screen. Teens and Adults alike will find the games availale for it to be challenging and fun.
