I almost gave it four stars . . August 25, 2008 gram parsons (Tuscaloosa, AL USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
But as I thought about it more, I can only give it three. I've played and owned all the sytems: XBOX and XBOX 360, PS3, the GameCube and Wii, the DS and now this is our second PSP (I wanted one of my own--I originally bought the Star Wars bundle for my kid). The good: This is a high quality product, much like the PS3. I'm an XBOX fanboy probably but the quality of the Sony gaming devices cannot be denied. It's nice to hold in your hand. It's well put together. It's attractive. The screen is absolutely fantastic. I bought a DS for myself and gave it to the kids because it just felt too "old tech." I don't care about touch screens. The PSP screen is the best I've seen in handheld gaming. The bad: The PSP loses its first (of five) stars for AWFUL CONTROLS. I appreciate their inclusion of the thumbstick--but to exclude the other? And the location of the thumbstick? I STILL haven't figured out how to hold it comfortably (in my fingertips? Pressed against my palms?). Maybe one of the grips would help. The second star loses because of the game selection. I don't want scaled down versions of games I've already played on the XBOX 360. I bought this on a whim for Space Invaders Extreme, a fantastic game. Was recommended Killzone, and find it intolerable. Thankfully, another recommendation, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror turned out to be a pleasant revelation--I'm actually thoroughly enjoying that and wish others were more like it. I don't like all the button mashing action games (read: God of War. So, overall, it's a VERY nice device, with a less than stellar control scheme (comfort wise), and a less than stellar catalog of games (for my tastes). I don't regret buying it at all--just wish there were more games for it.
A really nice system September 10, 2008 anonymous 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the PSP several months back, and I have to say I really enjoy it. I can't complain about the number of titles for it... it has the titles I'm interested in, and that's what counts. Over all, the graphics and sound are outstanding. I haven't played with the other features much, but it's nice to know they're there. My only complaints are small... The battery life is a bit short (but I usually play at home, so no real bother for me...) Also, this is a new model, which is smaller than the old. Unfortunately there are several nice accessories still available for the old PSP, but they won't fit this one. So it's buyer-beware when shopping for these.
Nothing different October 10, 2007 Jorge Guerrero Sanchez (Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, MEXICO) 1 out of 11 found this review helpful
Nothing different than the other PSP. Although it was a gift for my brother and I saw it through the plastic covering, it's identical to mine, which is the immediate previous version.
Great product, but the battery doesn't last long! October 23, 2007 RAFAEL CORREA (Redmond, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The product is great! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone I know. The only problem I see with it is that the battery doesn't last long - something between 3 to 6 hours, depending on the game and whether or not you are using the device wireless resources. Well, but despite that, you can (among other things): - play great games; - watch movies available in UMD; - access the internet using a wireless network*; - if you have also a memory stick of reasonable size, copy your MP3 songs to your PSP and make it your iPod. * it's not so easy to browse the internet with your PSP, but it's good to have this feature in a game in case of an emergency! =)
Cool, But beware - Not the same as old psp October 28, 2007 whosyourseanie 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has been a pretty awesome little machine to have. I enjoy playing games on it and I enjoy watching movies on it. The one thing that is important to remember is that some of the accessories that you could use with the old psp cannot be used with this new one. For instance, the analog stick can't just be popped off and replaced with a bigger, after-market analog stick. If you try to do that, as can be done with the old psp, you are going to break the analog stick on this newer model. It DOES NOT pop off. I think that was pretty poor planning on Sony's side and that needs to be me made a whole lot more clear for anyone purchasing after-market accessories for their new psp.
