30 Year Olds Review December 29, 2007 Lamar (Los Angeles, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm an accountant who as of 2007 has fallen in love with "gadgets". I own 3 iPods, an iFlip video camera, an XBox360, and a Sprint TOUCH cell phone. I bought a PSP just to have a portable video player that would play all my downloaded rap videos and not require headphones at all times. I recommend buying a protective cover for this right away. PROS: -Plays movies, videos, music, and games and does so with quality. I was impressed with the sound and videos that were recorded in good quality, played in good quality. -Hooks up to everything. I watch the videos in my car and plug it into the same wire I use to listen to my iPod thru my car stereo. I am able to use the composite wires to hook it up to tv's in hotels when I'm travelling. I can plug it into all my friends stereos thru the headphone jack and DJ house parties and gatherings. -Easy to use. With the media manager I select the songs or videos I want to load and it converts them and puts them in alphabetical order for me in my PSP. My Windows Vista has issues with iTunes but has no problems with the media manager or media player to load songs. -You get bang for your buck. I bought mine on sale for $169.99. I did buy a few add ons with speakers, cover, composite wire and media manager but no item cost over $20. My iPod Touch was $399, my 360 was $399, and my cell phone was $300 so this was a bargain for me and what I'm used to spending on these kind of items. I own only 1 game, Tiger Woods 2008, and only play it for a few minutes here and there but it looks nice and is fun to play. I own 0 UMD movies for it so I can't review that feature. I was a HUGE iPod fan and very loyal to that product but the PSP is #1 today and my favorite gadget right now. I have only owned my PSP 2 weeks but so far no complains or issues after I figured out how to keep it clean.
Doesn't output to all TV's! December 31, 2007 Andrew Erickson 4 out of 37 found this review helpful
The reason that I am given only 1 star on this is that it doesn't support AV output on TV's that don't have progressive scan and component cable input ability. The main reason I chose a PSP over another system is that wanted the ability to play games on my "regular" tv. Can't return it now!

PSP SLIM IS A GREAT DEVICE January 18, 2008 SAM FRIEDMAN (Flushing, NY United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After trying out my PSP for the first time I was amazed at the weight of it. This thing is light.. almost too light making you think its just an empty shell. This one area I feel Sony could have improved making it feel less flimsy and cheap. As a portable gaming system this device gets a perfect score. The Web browser is pretty cool but you must go surf sites such as MSN MOBILE To really have the psp display pages correctly for the screen. As far as a music or video you really should stick with an ipod device as the psp has no hard drive and you must use memory sticks. Although you can add an 8 GB Stick it does not compare to the hard drive based players available. Of course you can buy movies on UMD Which makes the PSP a great movie player too. So if you want to play games, have a portable device to surf sites, and a great movie player the psp is a great buy.
