4 out of 5 stars Good piece of equipment ... different from the "zapper".   April 29, 2008

After 3 months of waiting Amazon finally delivered my Perfect Shot (which I wouldn't be too steamed about except they showed it "in stock" when I ordered, though it clearly was not).

So what's the verdict?

This gun is a good piece of equipment. It is intelligently designed and well made for something that retails for less than $20. It provides a completely different feel to shooting games relative to the Wii Zapper (which I also have and like). Which one you will prefer will probably depend on your individual style of shooting and the game you're playing. For instance, when playing the target game on Wii Play I prefer this gun, however, for most of the Linx Crossbow games I prefer the zapper.

The only complaint I have about this gun is that the grip is a tad large (and I'm a pretty big guy ... 6'2"). This means that after about 15 minutes of play my hand and forearm start to get a bit tired ... not much, mind you, but enough to make you lose just a bit of accuracy (which really matters in something like Linx Crossbow).

The trigger pull is also more firm than on the zapper. Whether this is good or bad will depend on you. For me it lessens accuracy a bit but makes it less likely I'll squeeze off an unintentional shot.

Overall, I'd recommend this as a fun product.

5 out of 5 stars Makes Playing Shooter Games More Fun   May 16, 2008

First of all, I'm not sure if the reviewer(s) stating that the aim on the gun is way off is actually using the gun sites or if they're judging by pointing the gun at the screen and the on-screen site is way off, but my Wii gun works great. Of course my sons first time using it was him trying to use the gun sites, "this things aim is way off!". DUH! What sites were you using BEFORE having the gun? Then he realized that it is more of an appliance that adds a little realism to the game. Kinda like the Wii steering wheel. I can see those reviews now, "steering is loose and the car runs off the road a lot. This thing sucks..."
My only issue with the gun is that you have to wiggle the Wiimote a bit to get the nunchuk to connect.

3 out of 5 stars Hand grip is too big   May 17, 2008

I have pretty average sized hands, and like others have said I found the handle to be too thick, and it cramps my hands pretty quickly. My coworker who has hands larger than mine commented that they felt big too.

It's an ok accessory, but you probably wont want to play for more than an hour at a time.

3 out of 5 stars Beware wiimote damage!!   May 25, 2008

I was upset about the fit of the wiimote in the gun. Even though the box shows a rechargeable mote fitting, it doesn't. Shouldn't Nyko have made it compatible with their own product?? And even when I did take the cover off, it still didn't fit. The rear of the gun slants down (why would they do that??) and it ended up scratching my wiimote skin. Hopefully, it didn't scratch the mote underneath. Plus the strap has to be taken off. The whole 1/4" slant needs to sanded down and then it will probably fit ok.

And also, this thing is huge and made for ham hands. My hand starts to cramp after awhile and I end up holding it with 2 hands. But that being said, the feel of the gun is pretty good and the accuracy is better than the wii zapper. I still like the zapper as well and it would probably be good to have both.
