Great Game October 31, 2007 T. J. Burghardt 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the newest installment of a great series. The people stammering about how this game is terrible on PS3 are full of it. Just b/c it has a remote receiver doesnt make a difference. Sony and Red Octane plan to release Bluetooth guitars, so if you simply cant stand the receiver then w/e. Little quirks shouldnt be the reason to give a game poor reviews.
Not bad for the first PS3 Installment November 5, 2007 Dino Baccam (Fairfax, VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Regarding the many complaints over the new wireless guitar not working, I also had problems setting up the guitar initially. All I can say is follow the instructions for setting up the wireless guitar VERBATIM. After the initial set up, I had no problems, with the exception of having to calibrate the guitar on my Samsung LCD TV. Overall, Guitar Hero III is more polished than Guitar Hero II (I never played the original Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero: Rock the 80's). Graphics are improved and updated, and the animated scenes between levels are nice. The character models are also updated (Judy Nails looks entirely different from her Guitar Hero II incarnation). I have Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 (though I no longer have a 360 as I sold it after I got the red rings) and the reason I bought it for PS3 was because of the free online play (of course, no longer having a 360 was a factor as well; though I prefer my PS3 to the 360, I still would like to get another 360 as soon as I hear that they've significantly addressed their hardware issues). I have yet to play online, but as soon as I do, I will be back with an updated review. I prefer the new Les Paul guitar controller to GHII's Exploder guitar, and the high gloss black looks nice. Whereas I decorated the white Exploder Guitar with the included decals, I am going to leave the Les Paul controller as is. Though it looks nice, the high gloss black will attract a lot of fingerprints and smudges.
Don't Know What All The Complaining is About November 12, 2007 Papa Balsamo 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought the game over the past weekend and managed to put in a couple hrs of gameplay in. it took me about 15 minutes to set up the connection to the guitar and ps3 but that's mostly because i'm lazy and didn't bother to read the instructions....once i followed the instructions everything was fine. no lag, no problems otherwise. the gameplay was great as expected, the soundtrack is excellent, and i have no real complains. great purchase, and i would recommend it to others.
ROCK ON! November 16, 2007 Michael Valley (Fairborn, OH USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Who doesn't love playing the air guitar? Guitar Hero 3 is my first time playing the game. I played it for 4 hours in the first setting. Starting off on easy, the songs were beatable with 4 or 5 stars on the first time through. I have just scratched the surface with medium, and plan on playing that more, now that I have a good hold on easy. If you are worried about battery life with the new wireless controller, stop worrying, it will outlast you for sure. I calculated 57 hours of play time with 2000mAH rechargeable batteries. So, if you wanted to, you could rock out ALL weekend on the same batteries. I experienced no lag, and the removable guitar neck is solid. Like a lot of the reviews I have read online have said, I quickly found out the online play is broken for now. I couldn't get a challenger when I tried to join a game. On to the gameplay, which is a fun concept, and Guitar Hero has delivered. I have gotten away from playing video games lately, but I think this will get me back into the swing of things. Now my PS3 isn't only there as a dust collector, it is finally being used as an entertainment device. Playing the boss battles are a nice change of pace, and a good addition to the series. It's time for me to get back to playing GH3! This game is an awesome buy, there is no wonder why it is a hard find in the retail stores.
Fun! November 22, 2007 F. Espinosa 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would watch people play this game and think how could this be fun? So I gave it a shot once and thought ok, what's the big deal. But my sister wanted to have this game and thought it would be a good family game regardless. So I'm hooked now. Playing in career mode is a blast and I love the battles. This game is a ton of fun and I would recommend this game to anyone that's a kid at heart.
