So much bang for your buck! March 20, 2008 Browneyedgurl (Illinois/ Land of corn) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought the 80gb ps3 as a christmas gift for our family. Am I glad I did! We upgraded from an old xbox. We also bought a 40" sony bravia v3000 hdtv and onkyo 7.1 surround system.(highly recommend those as well) We are broke, but have a ball playing our ps3! I didn't realize this was much more than just a game console! It also allows internet access(with wifi),allows me to play my ipod through the stereo, look at my digital pics, watch reg.and bluray movies, and play ps3 games online with anyone! I am sure there is more I can do with it, but I am still learning. We own 7 ps3 games and have bought the bowling game from the ps3 online store(better than the Wii bowling game in my opinion.) And have not been disappointed with any of them. If you are looking for great family fun buy this system! And buy Rockband to go with it! If you are considering buying the 40g ps3, spend the extra and get the 80g. The 80g offers more capabilites and you will miss them with the 40. I hope this review was helpful.
Great System but August 8, 2007 action hank (Las Vegas, Nevada) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
The PS3 is a great system I've never been happier with any system as I have been with this, not even with the Wii. But as long as the 60 gig model is in stock I think it would be wiser to just buy that because it is very very easy to upgrade the PS3's hard drive. Just buy ANY SATA 2.5 inch 5400rpm laptop hard drive and you could put that. A 160 gigabyte Seagate would set you back $130 at Fry's but thats double the 80gig for just another 30 dollars. Whereas you would spend $100 for 20 gig by buying this. Think about the gigabytes per dollar. The manual has the steps to follow and you can even watch videos on youtube of people doing it. It's really easy, trust me, I've done it and I can barely boot up my computer. I guess if you're planning to get motorstorm anyway then this might be seen as a great deal. But I've played the demo and, well it's not that fun in my opinion.
Worthy of a purchase but not because of Power or Games! October 19, 2007 Stephen Lally 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
I hate how people are saying this sytem is "Best of this generation", "downright collosal!" and all that good stuff. On paper the system is a beast...but what does that mean unless it actually performs? Absolutly nothing. Its like taking a team (say the Mets or Yankees) and saying yes they have the best players in the league so they are by far the best team. Not true. Unless they perform they can be the worst. Same goes for the PS3, while on paper is looks amazing the games are still missing, and the ones that are made for xbox and ps3, PLAY better on Xbox. Take for example most EA sports games. Go check the reviews for Madden 08 for PS3 and Xbox 360. 360 has better framerates all around... While I still think this is a must buy for certain RPG's, and the fact that you are getting a BLU RAY player for 500 bucks (when you basically cant buy one for that cheap by itself) its worth it. Add in the fact that you get Motostorm and 5 free blu ray movies... Defeinetly a good deal, but not the best in the games department.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY A PLAYSTATION 3 December 6, 2007 Daniel Hayes (Boston, Massachusetts) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
It is, quite simply, the most fun piece of electronics ever sold. Sure, Nintendo Wii is great too (especially for young ones and video game novices), but for some games the Wii controller just doesn't work like you want. Sony was smart, and stayed with the same PERFECT controller. Soon, you will be able to buy wireless DUALSHOCK 3 controllers (now available in Japan, and this announcement, in conjunction with the price drop, was what led me to finally getting one). There are free software upgrades / updates for the system available all of the time, as well as or many games. And finally, there are a large amount of INCREDIBLE games available!! (i.e., Motorstorm, NBA 2K8, NHL 2008, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden, Assassin, Elder Scrolls IV, and many others.) Do yourself a huge favor and buy a PS3. It will change your life EVEN MORE than a PS2 did when you first bought one of those. I'd recommend not even considering an XBOX - XBOX missed the boat entirely (unless you absolutely MUST have Halo...) Enjoy, and I'll see you all online!!
This is totaly AWESOME February 17, 2008 George Anselment (Branson Mo.) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'm almost 60 yr's old and this is almost the best thing I have done in my lifetime. The Playstation 3 is totaly awesome the games are more fun than you can expect and the blueray player is the most incrediable player you can purchase. The blueray movies are better than being at the I_MAX theater. Amazon has the best price on the product and the shipment was very professional and more than on time ( I had the product day's before it was due) You won't regret the GAMES, MOVIES, OR SHIPPING
