Enjoyable/Interesting Features March 25, 2008 B. McBeth (Warner Robins, GA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
to start: this game took a while to load. It might have seemed even longer to me, because when I got it on the 24th of March PSN also released a Systems Update. So I had to wait for that to download/install. I started the game. RB6V2 had a patch (1.10). So I had to wait for that to download/install (this one was short). After that the game had to install itself. This took about as long as the Sys Update. It was just kind of ironic since I was anxious to get started. RB6V2 is a good sequel. I had tried out the first, and it was just ok. The sequel is more enjoyable in my opinion. The ranking system and the new ACES system that allows for you to gain XP and weapons based on your style of play is a nice / welcome touch. Within a couple of levels I noticed my "Marksman" and "CQB" XP rose very quickly as opposed to my "Assault" XP. So it depends on your personal style of play. Tag a headshot on a guy through a window while repelling will earn you points toward Marksman, while chucking a grenade into a room will get you well on your way towards the next Assault tier. And every other level rewards you with another weapon; while the Ranking system (total XP) seems to be more geared towards personalizing your character. I especially liked this feature, and am looking forward to unlocking some features later in the game. Just remember that while outfitting your character, certain camo-styles are NOT appropriate for all terrain/situations! (Kinda like Corky Romano, Brick: "Nice tie." Corky: "Thanks!" Brick: "It should give some lucky sniper a nice target to aim for.") I also like how you can play through Single-Player (or Co-Op) to gain XP, which can be used Online as well. CoD4 had a similar system, but XP was only gained for ranks, and could only be gained online. Heh... speaking of which, unfortunately it took me a second or two to get used to the controls after playing CoD4, the L1 is now "Cover" as opposed to the Weapon Scope, which is R3. Made for a couple "interesting" firefights when I first started.
Not your average shooter March 21, 2008 Paul Hogan (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is the best / most original shooter I've played this year. There are so many FPS's coming out that are almost exactly the same - this offers gameplay that if far more real and strategic than anything else available on PS3 or 360 right now. Also offers better Co-op play and more refined controls than Army of Two. If you played the original Rainbow Six Vegas on PS3 (it seemed a pretty rough port from 360) - the sequel is much more refined, has better graphics and far few glitches.

Slow and disappointing April 6, 2008 Borat (NJ USA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love FPS games and was expecting more from R6V2. The story mode consists of a team mode and single player mode. In the first few chapters, you have two computerized companions who obey your commands (most of the time). You have to tell them to "Stack Up" at every door which becomes tiresome pretty quickly. Then all of a sudden, it's solo time. That's when it really goes down hill fast. My character has the heaviest and strongest body armor and caries to LMGs -- which is more than adeqaute for most situations (except maybe sniping). Since it's a game, I not too worried about the over-penetration of bullets that the game warns you about (LOL). Anyway, my tank player is slow to say the least but he should be bullet resistant. Not so in R6V2, he dies consistantly with one shot. Go ahead and walk into a room with 3 "terrorists" and see how long you last. My other comments are related to gameplay. First of all if any real action occurs (like you're shooting somebody who is shooting at you) the game gets jerky and skips for a few seconds (WTF?). Secondly, it takes forever to reload from a checkpoint after you get killed (easily 10-15 seconds). And lastly, the checkpoints are really far appart (like every half an hour if you do everything right). If I've been down the same set of stairs 10 times killed 15 terrorists 10 times, I don't really want to do it next time I respawn. When the opening credits ran and I saw Unreal Technologies, I new instantly I was in for a disappointment since Unreal Tournament 3 was such a let down too. I hate to say I told you so -- but I told you so. In my opinion, Call of Duty IV is the the best FPS game ever made - Period. End.
What a sequel should be!!!! March 21, 2008 Antoinne Harris (Columbia, SC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is actually what a sequel should be. The graphics are better and so is the game play. If you liked Rainbow Six Vegas 1, you will love Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I know you can't please everyone, but I'm sure the core Rainbow Six audience will be pleased.
