5 out of 5 stars This is one great guitar   April 24, 2008

I tried out the Gibson for Guitar Hero 3 as well as the Fender for Rock Band, and I have to say that the Frontman beats them both hands down! The guitar has perfect timing to the games, and the feel of the guitar while playing is very confortable and easy to control. While some have said the buttons are a little small, I feel they are fine, but if you've played off the GH guitar the buttons will feel the same. If you've played RB, yes, they are different, more to the "original" settings. Also, I like the fact that you can charge this guitar on the PS3, opposed to just running off of battery, saves a lot of money! The difference between this guitar and the RB guitar is the fact that YOU control the Star Power, it's not automatic, so you are able to achieve a higher score. Last thing that I like is that they moved the pitch change from below the strummer to the bottom right on the guitar, so you don't chnage your pitch while playing accidentally.

All in all, a great piece of work. Cheers to Nyko!

5 out of 5 stars Clicky Strum Bar!   May 19, 2008

Coming from GH this guitar works much better than the Strat for me. The clicky strum bar helps and I now can hit a string of 16th notes. My scores have improved tremendously.

The only con is that the signal seems to interfere with my Pioneer SE-DIR 800C headphones. I lose the sound and only get clicks if I try to use them while playing.

3 out of 5 stars Decent alternative to RB guitar   June 11, 2008

The Frontman guitar is a decent substitute for the Rock Band guitar for PS3 RB owners. The fret buttons are pretty crappy. They're small, and don't have much of a feel to them so it's really hard to tell where you are. I frequently get lost and have to take a moment to re-align my fingers - a problem I haven't had with either GH or RB guitars.

The strum bar is similar to the GH guitar in that it's firm, and springs back into place pretty quickly. Not quite as good as the GH guitar, but better IMO than the RB guitar.

So if you're a PS3 owner, and you're looking for another guitar because the flimsy RB guitars aren't cutting it, I would recommend this guitar. Otherwise, if you're an XBOX owner, get another GH guitar. They're far superior.

And screw you Guitar Hero for blocking the Rock Band compatibility patch. I'd gladly spend money on YOUR guitars to play Rock Band.

5 out of 5 stars Best Guitar Controller for PS3!   June 19, 2008

I own RB and GH3, and this controller is my favorite of the three controllers. It strums MUCH better than RB Stratocaster controller and I can finally play the fast songs.

It probably responds as well as the GH3 Les Paul controller, but the shape of it allows you to play while sitting down and resting it on your knee.

There are two potential downsides that come to mind: It does not have the second set of buttons on the frets like the RB Stratocaster, and the neck is much thicker than the other two controllers, so those with smaller hands may have some problems.

5 out of 5 stars The Greatest PS3 Guitar!!!!!   June 28, 2008

First off, I didn't get this on Amazon but it's such a great item i had to write a review for others to see. This is THE BEST guitar I've used/found hands down!! After trying a few other products that shouldn't even be sold I decided to go and buy the PS3 NYKO Frontman. This is the one I first wanted to get and I kick myself for not getting it sooner!! The fret buttons are very comfortable and super responsive, no dropped notes like other guitars. The strum bar is so smooth and its awesome for fast notes! And the whammy bar is the BEST I've ever seen! Whoever says this guitar feels cheap must have been using another one because this exceeds even the Gibson LP in every way. I will admit though, I was nervous at first because it had some trouble linking but once it did it worked perfect. It's so nice to finialy be able to play Guitar Hero III and actually enjoy it! Trust me, I'm an Expert GH player and now that I'm able to 100% songs I would recommend this to anyone. It took me a LONG time to finialy find the perfect guitar as I was skeptical about every one I looked at after trying so many junk ones. Let me save you all a lot of time, buy the NYKO Frontman and you will not be dissapointed! I'm gonna go back to GameStop and buy another as soon as I can.
