How to keep your XBOX360 from over heating June 17, 2007 C. Couture (Indiana) 11 out of 44 found this review helpful
Listen everyone! I want to help anyone with overheating problems for the XBOX360. Let's just say I have done my homework. Now, if you want your XBOX360 to really last a long life do NOT buy a hard drive. The current hard drive attaches to the main air flow of the XBOX360. You should buy two 512MB =1GB. Buy one intercooler fan! Also, do not put your XBOX in a shelf but rather put it out in the open air to breathe in and out. For instance, put the thing on a big plastic container that can hold your games and whatever else. Place your XBOX360 horizontal NOT vertical!!! Basically, it is flat and won't choke the XBOX like carpet. I guarantee it will not overheat!!! Play for hours and the thing will be as cool as a cucumber. If you want to play XBOX1 games then buy a XBOX1 console. Trust me! Now, the 1GB storage is a fair trade to save the life of a $300 console. XBOX360 is really designed for it's own games, not the previous consoles. Yes, it has the compatibility but at a heavy risky price. Microsoft made the 512MB card for a reason! Their focus for backwards plays is way less than PS3 and Wii combined. I wonder why... Please take my advice and only play 360 games on the 360, until we or microsoft comes out with an EXTERNAL hard drive!!! It will happen like the HD DVD player external. Believe it or NOT! Thank you
I kept my silence when Microsoft announced it wanted to leave us in the lurch. June 29, 2007 carnage (New York) 11 out of 70 found this review helpful
I did nothing when it tried to intensify or perpetuate interventionism. But its latest ventures are the straw that breaks the camel's back. Before I launch into my rant, permit me the prelude caveat that its loyalists are tools. Like a hammer or an axe, they are not inherently evil or destructive. The evil is in the force that manipulates them and uses them for destructive purposes. That evil is Microsoft, who wants nothing less than to confiscate other people's rightful earnings. Let me quote to you from the words of my attorney: "Microsoft truly needs to stop living in a fool's paradise." I like to think I'm a reasonable person, but you just can't reason with hideous psychics. It's been tried. They don't understand, they can't understand, they don't want to understand, and they will die without understanding why all we want is for them not to spam the Internet with unsolicited testy e-mail. Microsoft is obviously trying to win support by encapsulating frustrations and directing them toward unpopular scapegoats, and unless we act now, it'll undeniably succeed. Microsoft is not above the law. And that's all I have to say.

After purchasing this product and having numerous problems, I sent it back using the packaging Microsoft sent me. They returned it to the wrong address, wrong state and blamed UPS. I have yet to see my game returned. Microsoft is too big to care about customers.
Great console, nearly infinite entertainment at this point September 14, 2008 Dale Gardner (Madison Heights, MI USA) 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
Games, games, games. The Xbox 360 has the broadest selection of games and the most highly-rated, or AAA, titles. A quick look at Metacritic will point any core gamer in the right direction. Achievements are supported in every game and really add some fun/cohesion to the gaming experience. Many great titles are also heavily discounted at this point, and the Platinum Hits collection is certainly worth a look. Xbox Live Arcade has an equivalent "Arcade Hits" program with great games at a low price. Puzzle Quest at $10 is worth a particular mention. The XBLA version is not only the best version of the game, but it is also the cheapest, as Puzzle Quest on the other platforms runs $20-$30. Even with the XBLA-exclusive expansion pack added-on, it will be under $20. Casual gamers are worth a mention in regards to this console. From what I have observed, the 360 is very friendly to casual gamers as well. Puzzle games (such as the aforementioned Puzzle Quest), board games, and card games are all readily available on Xbox Live Arcade. They are cheap, fun, and great for casual gamers. Retail titles such as Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie are huge games that many people enjoy. The upcoming Xbox Live Primetime looks to be a boon for game show fans with the allurement of weekly shows and real-world prizes. Media is another topic to examine. I personally consider this console a gaming machine first and foremost. It can be enjoyed to the fullest without ever watching a movie or TV show. However, media is certainly an added bonus and I have no doubt that many people use the 360 heavily for media purposes. There is a huge selection of movies, music videos, and TV shows on the Marketplace. The Netflix integration will provide thousands upon thousands of movies/TV shows available for watching any time, for free (with Netflix subscription of course - $8.95 per month), with no commercials. Lastly, I will give a quick mention to the RRoD. I don't like having to mention it because the whole thing has been so overblown that it seems like I'll just be talking to a brick wall anyways. The RRoD has been a wonderful target for games journalists (to garner website hits) and especially rival console devotees ("fanboys"). The latter in particular love to perpetuate the RRoD to no end, posting comments about being on their "sixth" Xbox 360, or claiming that they know many people, all of which have had multiple failures. The actual situation is no where near as bleak as one might suppose from all the attention given to it. With the new chipsets there is only a very slim chance of experiencing a failure, and this would most likely be after at least a year. In such a case, let the 3 year warranty handle that and pay $0 for a smooth repair in which a prepaid box is shipped out to collect it. Also, perhaps 2 months after this review date, any consoles purchased will be the next chipset (Jasper), which will take the chance of RRoD down from maybe 3% to 0.001%. In short: Buy the console, it is worth every penny, and won't be regretted.
