5 out of 5 stars Truly a gamers console!   December 1, 2007

I bought the XBOX 360 ELITE about a month ago and am very impressed. I have a 42" plasma TV and the hi res graphics and sound are stunning. I have seen written complaints about: It's make too much noise, it gets too hot, it doesn't play HD videos, blah, blah, blah! Stop whinning! It doesn't make any more noise than the drives on your computer and any heat problem, if there really is one, can be fixed by buying an inter cooler that snaps on to the outside for about $20. As for the HD video, buy an HD player. I think Microsoft has got a winner!

5 out of 5 stars Still the best choice for HDMI-users   December 7, 2007

I held out for the HDMI Premiums in order to avoid getting the Elite. I wanted to hook my 360 to my computer monitor which has a DVI input (For those unfamiliar with this input, it's usually a white jack on newer monitors that accepts a digital video signal. DVI and HDMI VIDEO signals are identical so all you need to hook a 360 to a monitor is an HDMI to DVI cable which aren't necessarily expensive. DVI is video only whereas HDMI carries both video and audio, which is convenient for those who have a receiver with HDMI-in). I wanted to hook my audio output into an RCA (traditional red and white jacks) speaker system. However, I discovered this wasn't possible without buying a $50 HDMI and Speaker cable kit sold separately, but is included in the ELITE box, so I made the jump to the Elite console. IN SHORT, if you do not/can not use HDMI-only for video and audio, the real price break down is $400 for the Premium (white, 20GB hard drive) and $450 for the Elite (black, 120GB hard drive, and also includes added bragging rights).

The Xbox 360 Elite is the perfect addition to my gaming fun. Takes the boredom out of a rainy day.
Being Played on the Samsung HP-T5064 via HDMI connection with surround sound. It is just awesome. A must have.. All the Bugs have been worked out with this 120Gig unit. I got it for real good price. The price of the Pro system. Mine was made Oct. 10th.. You know it has the Falcon Chip in it..

3 out of 5 stars The best system this generation...so far.   January 14, 2008

To start off with the good: this console has the largest library of games out of the big three (Nintendo's Wii, Sony's PlayStation 3, and Microsoft's Xbox 360), currently. The 360 offers two different versions of Xbox Live (XBL: which requires a broad band connection to play): Gold and Silver. Gold members pay a $50/year fee in order to play on-line as well as download new content as it becomes available on XBL. Silver members cannot play on-line; however, they are able to download new content, typically, a week after it has been released on XBL. XBL is pretty reliable, but it does have its occasional problems (no, you do not get refunded if problems persist).

The bad: Many consumers will find themselves meeting the so-called "red-ring of death" (RROD) which is three red rings showing up on the front of the console around the power button. The RROD requires the consumer to call customer support (1-800-4MYXBOX) in order to send the console into repairs. My suggestion is to pay for the warranty that comes with the 360 because it covers the system for 3 years. If you do send your 360 into repairs, typically, they will send you a refurbished 360. Then another popular issue arrives: Digital Rights Management (DRM). When you receive your new 360 you will no longer be able to play any thing you have bought and downloaded from XBL with your original console unless you are connected to the internet with the new console (note: when you send your 360 into repairs they tell you to keep your harddrive and face plate).

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
