The only reason I bought the elite is because it comes with an HDMI connection. This makes all the difference in the world for connection to an HDTV. The elite outputs full 1080p and Dolby Digital sound.
Microsoft did drop the ball by not offering an HD-DVD drive built in.
The unit is VERY loud when a disc is in the unit.

when you are looking for a game system with a great variety of games, great graphics, and wanting to connect it to a surround sound system, i would recommend this one. it includes so many things and you save about 130 bucks compared to the pro system. i bought this game system in march and now it is may almost june and i have had no problems at all with this product. when my friends came over they started playing halo 3 with me. the next day they had bought their own elites and we talk to each other every day(using xbox live(one month free) and headset(included). we love playing with each other and other people around the world too. overall Microsoft has created the best game system yet.

This is the best system I have ever owned.. best games, xbox live is to much fun, graphics are crazy makes me drool with my Samsung HDTV!
If you like gaming you must get this system!

For about three months I researched games, game systems and online play. I read many reviews, saw videos and looked at side by side comparisons. After coming to a decision, I ordered this system. I was a little bit unsure, but after it arrived I knew that it was the best system out there. The Elite is not only the best console, but the best of the Xbox family. It has the best graphic card, and for some (including me) has the new falcon chip which makes it virtually immune to the infamous red ring of death problem.
A+!
Will use this Elite to kill more Covenant Elites mercilessly. June 24, 2008

I already own a Premium SKU (sans HDMI). Decided to get a second system, for its sleek look, and larger hard drive.
System includes HDMI cable. I love the sleek matte black and larger HDD. Just amazing.
Will get great use to kill more Covenant Elites over Live and rent tons of movies.
