5 out of 5 stars the best game console on the market right now   November 17, 2007

I am not a fanboy by any means I think all the consoles are great each one has strong points that the other one doesn't. Its just the xbox 360 has the features I want compared to the rest. The thing that puts the xbox 360 over the top is of course xbox live. It does cost money but its worth it compared to ps3 online service which is free and sucks hard I'd gladly shell out money for online service if ps3 had one. As for the xbox 360 elite I mainly bought this for the 120gb hard drive. I didn't care about the hdmi port really because my TV can't handle 1080p so that feature is kind of useless to me. I could care less about what color it came in yes the black looks nice but I would of gotten a pro but I would of end up spending more money if I bought a 120gb hard drive add on so the 360 Elite actually saves you money on the hard drive and the extra space will be worth since they are offering xbox originals on to there live service. This console isn't perfect by any means it has 3 flaws and easy flaws that could of been added to make this console stand out from the rest. They call this an Elite but yet it doesn't come with no HD dvd player and built in Wifi. I understand that most people don't have wireless internet but the other systems even the Wii that doesn't have really great online service comes with Wi-Fi built in. The other thing is the media center, they call it a media center but I only use it for mp3s and pictures right now. Lack of codec support is the main thing that bugs me about the 360 they make me spend $479 and it can't even play a simple mpg file or divx file. If they finally added divx support I can finally pack up my old xbox. I have no use for WMV nobody does please add more codec support in future updates Microsoft. Anyway if your looking at which console to buy, buy a 360 it has the games and a video marketplace where you can download TV Shows and videos in HD and extra content for game so all in all I am happy with my purchase however I would recommend buying this at a retail store instead of through amazon it might save you money but in the long run its always better to buy through retail.

First of all, I would like to thank Amazon for the no hassle issue with the first console we received....they replaced it very quickly. When we received the first console, we were having trouble with the console..turned out to be the hard drive after calling Microsoft. Since we had just received it that day, I contacted Amazon and the associate was very kind and helpful. We received the second console within a few days and my son has been playing it since without any problems. He plays Halo 3 linked with his friends 360's and several tvs and play all night long.

4 out of 5 stars Overall a solid console.   November 20, 2007

I think now I can truly say that this console is the best console out on the market right now. From HD graphics to the stellar library of games, the XBOX 360 is the definitely the number one console right now.

The library of games is truly astounding. I will admit that the 360 leans more to the shooter side of the gaming spectrum, but if the shooters are absolute quality, with games such as Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War and Call of Duty 4, then it is hard to complain. Other games such as Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Forza 2, Viva Pinata, Rock Band, NBA 2K8 and Madden NFL 2008 are just a few stellar games that should help fulfill some of your other genre needs.

The controller is the definitely the best controller on the market. It seems to fit perfectly in my hands and for me is the controller of choice for FPS/Shooter games.

The hardware truly delivers the beauty many were expecting from "next gen" consoles. From the absolutely beautiful scenery of Assassins Creed, to the moody and scenic beauty of Bioshock, to the jaw dropping Gears of War, this system truly gives gamers the eye candy they have been wanting in video games. Dolby 5.1 also delivers and gives gamers all the sound they can handle. From explosions to the chatter of the virtual world, you can hear it all in 5.1.

I do wish the console was quieter, but it's nothing major and it seems that this will be fixed in the future with the addition of a new processor. Also I have seen some games that in SD look good, but suffer in certain areas that you wouldn't expect. Games like Dead Rising and Lost Planet look good, but the text is almost unreadable in SD. This may be the developers fault, but it's still an issue.

Though there have been hardware issues with this system, I have yet to experience any issues, with the exception of some freezing here and there.

Overall I have to say that I have not been disappointed with my purchase of the XBOX 360 and consider it to be the best console on the market right now.
