Centerpiece December 2, 2007 M. Fabry My 360 is at the heart of my home theatre system. I stream music from my external HD through my 360 across my surround sound system, am running HiDef to my new flat panel for gaming. I love every bit.
Fun to play, but has its downsides December 11, 2007 Dev2r (Jersey City, NJ) Pros: * A month of on-and-off playing(6-7 hours per week), and no RROD (till now). After reading about all the problems with heat dissipation, I just don't switch on the heater when I'm playing. * Interfacing with Windows Media Player 11 is painless. Within 30 minutes, I was able to stream HD video from my PC over my wireless and view it on the TV. Also supports DivX and Xvid after the Dec 4, 2007 update. * Lots of fun titles to play. Cons: * The ever-looming threat of RROD * The console is *loud* and *hot* * The HD-AV cable stopped displaying video properly after I put in an old Xbox game to get the compatibility update from Live. Have been using my HDMI input since then.
XBox360 December 11, 2007 W. C. Hulse (Dallas, TX USA) The unit has operated well right out of the box. it's noisy as hell and cannot be separated from the monitor by more than 3 to 4 feet. Consequently, the user will require the remote control simply to place the Xbox and the monitor far enough away to minimize the whine of the disk drive and fan assembly. It appears that an optimal configuration will be to use Boze noise quieting headphone with a 40-50in HD monitor placed some 25 feet distant. Clearly a remote control for the XBox will be essential. The video quality is great even displayed on a vintage analog TV. The control unit for the 360 is better than the PS2/3 ... i'm not sure why separating the two sticks makes so much difference, but it does. The 360 controller seems to be easier to master in this new configuration also. All-i-all the system is great, noisy but great. If you're planning to play on-line for an extended a period of time, the user require the best headset you can find ... other than that, it's been happy days. WC Hulse

This system is great. It came with everything I needed. The quality is out of this world. It is worth the extra dough to get the hard drive and be hd ready.
