I wanted to believe in this machine March 29, 2008 Chris Peterson 14 out of 19 found this review helpful
I defended the 360 when all the red ring problems were up and about... well I shouldn't have. The Xbox 360 has some amazing titles its just a shame the machine that plays them is a piece of garbage. Microsoft has really screwed up big time. The original Xbox was a classic, I love mine. Halo 1 and 2, Dead or Alive 3, etc. The list goes on of amazing titles. And the best thing about the original Xbox.....IT WORKED!!!!! You never had to worry and or hope that it would play your games, it just did was it was created to do. With the 360 you have pop in your game cross your fingers and hope for the best. And whats with all the versions, Core, Premium, Elite, Arcade, Arcade Pro, I give up I truly do. I had my 360 for 10 months (not even a year).....and guess what, I popped in a game and it froze, I restarted and that giant computerized middle finger known as the red of death looked directly at me and mocked my very existence. To conclude I converted back to Sony, I'm soon buying a PS3 now that the price dropped I already own a Wii, thats a great system as well
Doesn't come with the audio adapter August 20, 2007 Shane N. Williams (Montclair, NJ) 13 out of 23 found this review helpful
Overall great value, but it doesn't come with the audio adapter that is in the Elite pack. Therefore, if you're planning on using a non-HDMI receiver for audio you'll need to shell out another $50 bucks for the adapter. Not very nice MS!!
Don't believe the hype. August 25, 2007 Donald T. Fox Jr. 13 out of 22 found this review helpful
I will try to make my review as unbiased as possible. I own all three systems, Wii, 360, PS3. The 360 is by far the best system if you enjoy playing current generation games. The Wii is fun for a while, and enjoyable when you have company over. Its an interesting toy that people unfamiliar with games enjoy playing around with. Truth is, I wouldn't miss it, but kids, non-gamers, and first time users, have fun with the system so its worth having. The PS3 makes for a nice Blu-Ray player, if you buy the remote. It also collects dust really well. Not much else going for this system. In typical Sony fashion they overpromised, overcharged, underdelivered. Their Sony name is rapidly being destroyed. Similar to US car manufacturers in the 70's and 80's. Sony believes they know best and insist they can do no wrong. Well guess what, your PS3 is a disgrace to the Playstation name. Hope for better with the PS4. 360 is simply the best system out currently for the current generation games. I've been extremely impressed with games like Gears of War, Bioshock, Rainbow 6, Forza, and quite a few more. I believe the reliability issues are being created into a media frenzy to sell stories and by Sony fans to scare people away from the system. There are some issues with reliability, but Microsoft has set aside substantial funds to cover for repairs. Most of the scare tactics are being used by Sony fans or people with unnatural hate towards Microsoft in order to prevent sales of the system. Don't believe all these scare tactics, and don't cheat yourself out of the best gaming console ever made.
New 360 Reviewed September 2, 2007 The Dude Abides (Cincy, OH USA) 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I ordered this new 360 for my 2 sons to have. 1 Xbox just wasnt getting the job done. Seeing this improved model made my choice easy for me. I think the 360 is the finest console of this generation for many reasons, but I didnt like the fact I had to send my 1st one in for repair- thus didnt get to play it for a little over 2 weeks. It does appear Microsoft has addressed the old issues with this new console. So far I have noticed the disk drive runs about 50% quieter than the one in my older model. Also, this model has the HDMI output which is nice because my HDTV I use for this has 3 HDMI inputs on it, so its nice to use them. Now, I use an intercooler on both my Xbox 360s, so I really cant comment on whether or not this one runs cooler than my older one. Bottomline, this new model is improved over the original model, which is what the claim is. The HDMI output is nice for me, but that really depends on your equipment. Now if only Microsoft could lower the price of the 120gb HDD, they will have the perfect console, in my opinion. I play it much more often than my other consoles. If you buy a new 360- you will want this model. Recommended.
Too expensive ! October 3, 2007 Nihal S. Ragaie 13 out of 44 found this review helpful
Why would I pay more money to get an XBox 360 + HD Drive + Wireless controller instead of buying a PS3, and in a couple of years, I'll likely have to throw away my HD Drive, and will be playing mediocre games compared to 50Gig releases on a Blu-ray.
