Heels in Season mode...hmmm. (360 version)/ After further review.... January 22, 2007 William Drennan (Germany) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I was pretty fired up to play this game right after I got the demo, and it didn't disappoint when I played the purchased game. A minor annoyance: ring music can't be customized. The big one (unless I'm missing something) is you can't play a 'heel' or dirty wrestler in season mode. Unless I missed some setting somewhere (not in the CAW dialogue) any wrestler (created or regular roster) will default to a clean 'face' wrestler when you start the season, complete with the clean move list and taking massive 20+ point momentum hits every time you attempt a dirty move (my created wrestler has a bunch of them). I'm really hoping I have missed a setting or option somewhere since this one glaring oversight really detracts from a pretty good game. I've posted to the publisher and developer sites and will update if they answer. My hope is that XBox Live will post a patch sooner than later. The movelists and momentum boosts/hits (both clean and dirty) seem to function correctly in all exhibition modes. **Much time has passed - It's August 08** I still play this game. Excellent party game rivaling "Madden". I had underestimated the online community and everyone's contributions to Create-A-Wrestler etc. After completely filling the storage slots with original content (I thought Koko B. Ware, El Condor and Barry Horowitz were pretty good) I came across something: if you play through as a bottomed out wrestler (38 overall rating), earn a lot of xp through matches, you may then copy this wrestler, erase the customization and use him/her as a template to create your own historically accurate roster. The replayability and the previous item on customization make me bump the funmeter to "5/5" and the overall to "4/5", after further review. Oh, and I know '08 has been out. I played it. Like this one better.
Great game, but........ November 19, 2006 S. Jensen (American Fork, Utah United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Amazing game that should be checked out by every wrestling fan. The new gameplay is fantastic and the graphics are awesome. Story mode is kind of crazy if you don't win or challenge for the title. By that I mean Candice Michelle uses a magic wand and turns you into a Diva. I know it sounds lame, but it was actually kind of funny when you had Big Visc coming on to you. 1. Previous WWE games (by THQ) on the xbox have been terrible. But at least they had custom soundtrack options for your created wrestler's entrance. So why did they leave that out in Smackdown vs Raw 07 on the Xbox 360? Even Rumble Roses(360)lets you use custom theme songs. 2. Almost the same commentary in this game as SvsR 06. They just say a few different things about certain Superstars. 3. Am I wrong when I say less moves? Granted they added an awesome way to use powerbombs and samoan drops, but there is a lot of moves from the last game that got cut out it seems like; and I even unlocked all the moves. 4. Create a Superstar feature is great, but with one minor problem. That is the voice options for Season mode are a thousand times worse than the voice options in 06. Thats saying something cause the 06 options where terrible. 5. I had a glitch that whenever I edited my Superstar's appearence some of his moves would set to a default and I would have to keep changing them. If that happens to you then just create a character that you won't use, but give them a moveset. Whenever you want to edit your superstar's appearence, after your done go into create a move and then just Auto Set your moveset from that created character you won't use. Despite these flaws the game is great and if you like the last one you will love this.
This Game Sucks November 26, 2006 Andy 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
Let me first say that this game sucks. First, the loading in this game is rediculous. It takes 20 hours to load everything! The story mode is kind of numb, and i really hate the fact that you can't buy superstar points in the shop. if you're like me, you like to create a lot of characters, and, if you're like me, you like to copy your best superstar, then edit the copied one so you can have a new superstar with a good rating. Basically, you can't change their weight class when creating a new character off a copied one, to reset the attributes, so you can change them up. The create mode is really lame. The clothing sucks so bad in this game. My best friend's name is David and they don't even have that as a superstar calling name when you enter the ring like they did in the last one. Last time I checked, David is a pretty popular first name. Hell, it's Batista's first name. Like all wrestling games, it does have a degree of fun- a very SMALL degree of fun. but this game is really really lame, and I find it hard to believe that people are saying it's "a turning point in smackdown history." how the hell do you figure? seriously. did you ever play the other games? you can't sit there and say it's the best of the smackdown games, because if you do, you must have never played another smackdown game. If you create a character, and, for example, you make them from Las Vegas Nevada, the announcer will say "On the way to the ring, from Las Vegas Nevada, from Nevada..." Why the hell are they saying the state twice? Make anyone from a city and state and when they are introduced, the announcer says the state twice. There are so many damn glitches in this game, it's unbelievable. You have to be a damn cruiserweight to be a luchadore or martial arts?! That's pretty lame. Anyone remember Nathan Jones or Steve Blackman??? Both martial artists and Blackman was a heavyweight and Jones was a super heavyweight. Story mode sucks. All I am gonna say. Music in the game is better, except for that one damn Money in the Bank song, which is probably THE worst song ever recorded. Also, where the hell is Paul London? Sure, we have 4 friggon Mick Foley's, but no Paul Lundon or, as gay as they are, the Spirit Squad. They really screwed this game up in every way possible. They really rushed this game. All the little 10 year olds who like this game have no clue about any other WWE game, I can assure you, because this game sucks big time. There are barely any grapple moves!! WTF???? How can anyone sit there, after plaing the other WWE games, and say it is a good game? This game is utter crap! I brought it back within 5 days of getting it. The heights in this game are all off. i put a wrestler at 5'7" and he was as tall as Angle... Angle is 6'2"! I have played every wwe game, and have been a fan of the wwe (wwf) since the early 80's. This game sucks plain and simple. They rushed it. Just like Mortal Kombat Armageddon. if you feel like wasting 50 bucks, then get it- otherwise stick with 2006 or just wait until this one is cheaper- which shouldn't be too much longer, because the game sucks.
Really good game, could have been better December 19, 2006 N. Hastings (Mobile, AL) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is reminiscent of the Smackdown games of old. I enjoy playing it, but for some reason the creators of this game seem to think less is more in some cases. Some of the moves have been taken out, which is a shame. Alot of items in the Create A wrestler have been taken out too, such as certain hats and necklaces. There seems to be alot less to choose from as far as Designs, shirts, clothes..heck..everything. It's not that big a deal, but why take out things? Another thing I have yet to understand is why the female superstars can only participate in a few certain types of matches. Up until Here comes the Pain, females could wrestle in any kind of match, now they can only wrestle in about ten of the 70 match types available. I don't understand that..hopefully next time they'll make that possible. I'm not really a fan of the way Yukes decided to only allow certain moves for certain weight classes. Why do that? Heck, the players should be able to decide what moves to use, regardless of the weight. There are alot of glitches, as you've read. I do hope they fix them next time. The create an Entrance is alot better than it was last time, but for some reason there are certain pyro effects, such as smoke, that will not last through the entire entrance a la the Undertaker. All in all though, it is a fun game. I just hope that Yukes will stop with the limitations next time.
Not bad for a button masher! December 2, 2006 Scotty 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is pretty good,The graphics are great,The story line is good.I hate the soundtrack, its for 18 year olds(no custom soundtrack).Stupid songs with only powerchords. It seems if your getting beat by a better player all your doing is trying to get up by pressing a button a million times a match.I love the moves you can do from the create a player menu. The menu for create a player clothes do suck like someone else said. And you cant have your own song coming down the ring. Its cool to see the hart foundation though and the real hulkster legdrop to end a match. All in all a good game.
