It's always good to have a good backup. January 4, 2003 Gambit!!! 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Really thier are only 2 MAIN reasons to have it. Reasons: 1. Transfering game data and such to another X-BOX, if the other X-BOX owner doesn't have that game or the data you have for it.2. If the Hard Drive on your X-BOX fails, and it might, not very likley to happen but it definetly might, it's always good to have a good backup. Those reasons alone are good enough to be able to convince you to get one, but if you aren't really worried about Hard Drive or Data Transfer, don't waste you $$.
An ideal device for youre Xbox. March 31, 2005 Aaron C. W. Downing (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Don't let the naysayers fool you...8 MB is very large and easily holds up to 10 game saves, which is ideal for transferring data between two Xboxs....i couldn't live without this memory card since my xbox died and i didn't want to lose my saves...ideal!!!
WHY? January 3, 2002 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
There's really no reason to buy a mu unless you're going to someone's house. It'd be smarter to just get a link cable and bring your XBox. Then, you don't just get your own saved games, but you get your own screen to play them on. And since the XBox has a 10 gig hard drive, thats about... a lot of memory units! Don't worry about running out of space. Has anyone ever used enough blocks so when it tells you how much memory you have left it shows 49,999 or less free blocks? I know I haven't. The XBox proves that its better than PS2 and GC with extra features like the hard drive, and if you're not going to use them, then why didn't you get a PS2 or GC instead of the XBox?(besides Halo) I gave it a two because if you've got cash to blow, then you could get one just to say you have it.
Something to buy later September 29, 2002 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am buying the Xbox and all the must-have accessories for my boyfriend this Christmas. Memory space is definatly important, but since the Xbox has its own hard drive, I don't really rank a memory card as an essential beginners accessory. This is something made more for people who have had the game system for a while and run out of hard drive space (unlikely to happen for a LONG time!) or those who are experienced players and want to share games with their friends.
Useful and useless November 9, 2004 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This item is both useful and useless. I will elaborate. If you already own an Xbox and know you move it around a lot, then this memory unit will be an essential accessory. Instead of lugging around the bulky thing, (and risk damaging vibration-sensitive parts, like the hard drive) you can simply save a game profile (special characters, etc.) to the memory unit. This unit utilizes flash memory, so, unlike my iPod, the data will survive numerous, repetitive beatings. (I don't recommend doing that though) Also because of this, it makes for an excellent way to back up important game files, like Morrowind. If all you do is sit at home and play Xbox, then you will not find this very useful. The 8 gig hard drive included is far more than sufficient, and because the unit is sitting still, the chances of hard drive failure are very slim. A con of this is its limited storage space. Eight megabytes only goes so far. It's about one Halo profile and only 1/3 of a Knights of the Old Republic save. Another con is the price: a full $10-$15 higher than Gamecube cards of comparable size. Overall, this product is a good way to transfer data from one Xbox to another.
