3 out of 5 stars It has its ups, and downs.........   November 16, 2002

The Xbox Memory Unit isn't that good. But, its helpful if your a hardcore gaming fan, and don't want your memory to be lost. The Memory Unit only has like 30 MB amount of space, while the Xbox has over 50,000 MB. The good part about this Memory Unit is that when your Xbox crashes (from games), all the files in your Xbox is deleted. But, if you backed it up in the memory unit, the files in the memory unit is NOT earsed. That's the only good part. I thought it did some more purpose then that, so, I bought it. HALO does not make Xbox crash by the way. My recommendation, is not to buy it unless you want too. My Xbox never crashed, and i played almost all the games. If it was cheaper, I'll say buy it....

4 out of 5 stars Do we really need a review for this?   December 31, 2002

Yes...just as everyone else stated...only reason to buy one is for data transfer, or backup. Reviews for this type of item are funny. Your either going to buy it or your not. If you dont know what the purpose of this item is, then you should just sell your xbox and buy a Tonka Truck, because your an idiot. And as for the 8-Gig hard drive...I decided to install one of my old computer hard drives...so now my xbox has a 40 Gig, and I will be upgrading again to 100 Gig...yeah, most people wont need over 8, but I have my reasons >:)

4 out of 5 stars Great... if you need one, though it could be better   November 18, 2003

The 8MB memory card for the Xbox may seem a little redundant since you've got that massive 8GB hard drive, but it does have it's uses. It's the perfect thing to backup your Halo profile and custom gametypes. Most games' save files will fit onto a memory card, with some irritating exceptions (Star Wars: KotOR).

Personally what I'd like to see is a Memory Card A, for 'A helluva lot more space'. With compact flash technology as it currently is, we could easily see a 128MB Xbox memory card. I know I would buy one, supposing the price was right. 8MB of space just isn't enough if some game saves take up more room than that.

Overall, good deal, but could be better.

This thing is great for moving your char. profiles and even your XboxLive account around. My friend and i always bring this thing over to each others houses on weekends so that we can play on the same TV. Thses things are great.

3 out of 5 stars Good but not essential   December 3, 2001

I thought that the X-Box Memory Unit was good but not essential. The X-Box has a memory system already so its not needed unless you want to bring a game over to a friends house and continue your game.
