2 out of 5 stars Revenge of the NES   May 26, 2005

This crappy game feels like an old NES game. I hate it. I hate it because it had the potential to be a GREAT game. But you can't move the camera around, you can't even really MOVE around (invisible walls galore!), you get shot at from guys you can't even see as everyone attacks you from off-screen, and even the versus combat is exceedingly frustrating. When you go up against someone like Greivous, don't even bother getting near him if you're playing against the computer. I love Star Wars, so I bought this thing, I played it, I enjoyed parts of it but....if you've played the Jedi Outcast games don't even think of buying this totally average bore. You just can't go back o old NES style gaming....

4 out of 5 stars Buy it. Plain and simple.   May 10, 2005

First off to the guy under me, 5 plus 17 is 22, not 21. the first few levels are a bit boring. They're the usual beat em up type. The gold here is the lightsaber fights. You need to really focus on their strategy and counter it. You get a few spoilers like Anakin's first dark act so if you really want to go see the movie fresh play this afterwards.

4 out of 5 stars Good game few problems   May 11, 2005

Overall this game was fairly fun. It has been fun to play especially before the movie comes out. The controls are fairly easy to use. And being able to build up you character is fun. I was disapointed that you can not multi player on all the levels just fight each other and a few small levels. The graphics are great as is the sound. It is a little easier than i would like but it is still challenging. I have noticed a few funny things that happen in jedi battles. It seems to glitch a lot you get kicked even though they are facing the wrong direction. or they grapple you when they are turned around, just things like that. I would recomend it. If you are not going to get it before the movie comes out i would suggest waiting a bit till you can get a cheaper used version.

2 out of 5 stars Rent don't buy!   May 28, 2005

I am not a hard core gamer. By that I mean that I just can't play a game for more than an hour at a time. Over the weekend, my friend who is a Star Wars fanatic, but also a casual gamer, saw the movie, and for the heck of it, after the movie, we rented this game just to see what it was like.

We played the game for less than 7 hours. As I noted, we normally are not marathon gamers, but the desire to finish a game we rented (usually a daunting task) took us over. We played 4 hours one night and 3 the next and finished it. The final battle, obviously one that is supposed to be the most difficult, took maybe 5 attempts, or a total of about 40 minutes, at normal difficulty. That was disappointing.

The game itself has acceptable graphics, but nothing spectacular. In regards to gameplay, the force powers are fun to use and it's easy to remember which button or trigger controls which, but this really is nothing more than a button mashing 'combo' game, which sort of incorporates the 'experience' aspect of LOTR games in that the better the combo, the higher the experience ranking.

However, the game does not have the EA polish that the LOTR games had and, as noted, is too short and too easy to be worth a purchase price of $50.00. So, as the title of this review says, rent, but don't buy, you will feel cheated.

2 out of 5 stars A weak entry   May 10, 2005

This game is disapointing. It is good marketing for the movie but the game play is basic and boring. It only took one day to complete. There is no camera movement to flesh out the surroundings and your movement is contained to the screen. There are only 2 Jedi powers you can use per character, the positive is that they are easy to use. There is no online option so when you are done the game...that's it. I will have a used copy on an auction site soon.....
