Only for the hardcore Pac Man fans. June 26, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This may be a good addition to someone absolutely obsessed with Pac Man but for me it was a total waste of money.25 bucks to pay for it and what do you get?A standard NES version of Pac Man and thats all. What a rip off! If youre just getting into Pac Man do yourself a favor and get Pac Man World 2 if you have a Cube and Pac Man Collection if you have a GBA.Both have the original arcade version of Pac Man plus other games.I think Pac Man World 2 is a much better deal than this piece of rubbish. The main game in PMW2 rocks plus you can unlock arcade games and tons of traditional Pac Man mazes.
$20 list for an inferior Pac-Man May 9, 2005 Marc R. Marta (Brooklyn, NY, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a Pac-Man fan, I can tell you the original is a genuine classic. However, I get pissed off when I see Nintendo testing the public's common sense. Namco's PAC-MAN COLLECTION consists of the original Pac-Man from the Arcade, plus three other games. Nintendo's CLASSIC NES SERIES: PAC-MAN is a graphically smashed NES version of Pac-Man with the flaws of the NES. Only ONE game in this cartridge. Both are around the same price (I've seen the Pac-Man Collection for a cheaper price at some stores.) Nintendo must think we're stupid to pay money for this crap. Say no to this travesty.
It's called Classic NES Series! June 17, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game plays as if you are putting the Pac-Man NES cartridge in the NES. It's supposed to be that way. Of course no "extra features". It's the same as the NES version. I'm getting ticked off now. I DO recommend this. It's a good spend.
Pac Man Fever - THE NES VERSION NOT ARCADE! June 9, 2004 Brett D. Cullum (Houston, TX United States) You may wonder what is up with this game when you put it in your GAMEBOY ADVANCE or GAMECUBE with the GB PLAYER? Why is PAC-MAN bigger than the maze? Why are the ghosts and the fruits also bigger than the maze corridors? Hmmmmm! Like DONKEY KONG this is not the arcade PAC-MAN, but the NES VERSION. They scrunched the screen a little bit back in the day, and put the score over to the right. They were trying to avoid the problem that plagued ATARI's 2600 version - television screens had more width and less height than in the arcade. So this is not the arcade, but the adapted NES version. Problem is PAC MAN was an arcade classic! Not an NES classic like SUPER MARIO BROS or ZELDA. Dubious port of the game when you can get the ARCADE version on THE PAC-MAN COLLECTION - as well as 3 or 4 variations and sequels.

Is it just me or is Pac-Man a metaphor for taking too many ecstasy pills? Think about it, you've got some happy little face stumbling around in the dark munching as many pills as he can get but when things go bad he's chased by ghosts all over the place until he can get more pills. Either this is really subliminal subtext by designer Toru Iwatani or it's just an amazing coincidence and I'm reading far too much into it. Either way Pac-Man is like THE biggest ever arcade game, which is quite amazing since many more advanced and technologically superior games came out after this. And it has one funky little theme tune!
